Alleged Maduro co-conspirator in DEA custody after indictments

A retired Venezuelan army general indicted alongside Nicolás Maduro has surrendered in Colombia and is being taken by Drug Enforcement Administration agents to New York for arraignment, four people familiar with the situation said Friday.

Cliver Alcalá has been an outspoken critic of Maduro for years. But he was charged Thursday with allegedly running with Maduro, socialist party boss Diosdado Cabello and another retired army general a narcoterrorist conspiracy that U.S. prosecutors say sent 250 metric tons of cocaine a year to the U.S. and turned the Venezuelan state into a platform for violent cartels and Colombia rebels. The Justice Department had offered a $10 million reward for Alcalá's arrest.

Alcalá was being flown on a chartered plane to the U.S. from Barranquilla, Colombia, after waiving an extradition hearing and agreeing to collaborate with prosecutors.

Looks like the DOJ was prepared before they issued charges...

Waiting for the next shoe to drop.

He surrendered? I wonder what motivated him to do that.

"I wonder what motivated him to do that."

I'm betting that he doesn't want to wind up as a picture on Ogrish, the kind that is limited to adults with a strong stomach...

He's agreed to "cooperate".

Maduro is shaping up to become Noriega II, with all that implies.

So, Bill Barr, foreign narco criminals are more of a threat to America than the treasonous Americans that attempted a coup on our president.?

It appears that your priorities are a little askew there, Swampy.

It does seem odd timing. Makes me wonder about Barr even more.

#2. Re I wonder what motivated him to do that ( i.e. surrender).

Pat Sajek: I’ll take a 4 letter word and a 5 letter word, please. GUNS and DEATH. Very persuasive motivators.

Any operation this significant re a foreign government’s criminal actions against the U.S. would take years to plan, organize, put together the staff/agents needs, and then operational surveillance time before they could begin to get arrest warrants, subpoenas, extradition notices etc. up and running.

I would say that this operation might have been started early in the Trump administration (perhaps by the DEA, aided by the CIA, FBI, US Border Patrol/Customs, ATF, and Organized Crime Task Forces across the U.S.) It might have been organized/started by the old Obama DOJ/Task Forces under Comey, the CIA under Brennan, and DOJ under Holder (doubtful) Lynch, etc.

However, I suspect that the bulk of the field work was done under Trump’s people and Barr has made a decision that it is time to start hauling in the suspects and closing down Venezuelan/Cuban/Nicaraguan drug operations.

If Barr has any intention of arresting people over 50 he’d better get to it.

There is one former South American President, and the son of a former South American President, who were given a pass on their history of narcotics trafficking. Why that was done was never explained — likely it was a State Department call — but the actives at the El Paso Intelligence Center know who they were.

He surrendered? I wonder what motivated him to do that.

Since he surrendered voluntarily, does he qualify for the $10 million reward?

Read somewhere, one source, they were somehow tied up with Crowdstrike.

If true, That would lead back to Hillary and the Globalists

Venezuela is also a major conduit for the smuggling of small arms from Germany and Eastern Europe into Central America and Mexico. So when you’re in Mexico and run across a Heckler & Koch MG5 for sale at an arms bazaar, it likely made part of its journey through Venezuela, according to data from US Customs.

BTW, the MG5, although available from our southern neighbors, is illegal to own in the United States.
