I was hoping to hear that he got a bilateral lung transplantation.
I believe he said he is on steroids to reduce the swelling but they reverse some of the chemo. One step forrward, two back. Sounded as if they were looking into other chemo treatments to try.
He sounded great today on the phone... Prayers are for him and Kathryn.
Sounds bad. He opted for a clinical trial which is usually a last resort. Hope he has other options.

We just finished 16 weeks of the harshest chemo brew available. They call it 5-FU, and it is aptly named.

It’s a crap shoot with those, but it’s great that he’s taking the risk for whomever follows. FWIW, I wish him many more years to come.
I don't know how to contact Rush, but I would like to offer a suggestion.
I just recently finished up chemo and proton beam radiation treatment at Loma Linda University Medical Center.(bladder cancer)It has worked for me.
Steroids is about it. I had breast cancer and went through chemo. Turned out I had an allergy to one of the drugs in the cocktail. They just treated the side effects and kept on with the chemo. Before my chemo treatment I would receive a pre bag full of steroids, anti nausea, etc. etc. I had a bunch of weird stuff happen to me during chemo. I woke up one morning with what looked like burns up and down the inside of my arms. When I showered it burned so bad I cried. Doc said....holy crap! I’ve never seen anything like this before. We need pics!! Then gave me another massive dose of steroids to counteract it.
I feel sorry for you. It may be ironical that I compare your situation with my experience with gadgets I order online. I get this gadget, which obviously, was made in China. It was made to slice things as I move this holder over these saw-toothed blades. I thought it would be the ultimate cure to slicing onions and tomatoes for that BBQ hamburger. The first onion destroyed my thoughts on that. The blades got hopelessly bent and jammed the gadget.
I suspect the doctors are getting similar “gadget” drugs, possibly manufactured in China, with similar results. Hopefully, the doctors are learning things and moving on to better results.
No need to feel sorry for me. I continued my chemo treatments and they just treated whatever happened to me. I’ve been cancer free for 10 years now.
