The government has closed the wilderness in the name of safety. I talked with a Ranger yesterday, and this is what I was told. All access to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is closed.

“I ASSURE you, this is a play for paid leave and nothing more.”
Thanks for that!

By management. The Rangers I talk with several times a year are totally into their jobs and love what they do. The cleaning people not so much probably.

If I can be trusted to stay 6 feet away at Costco.........without a need to be tasered...... Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are! Have you seen the lines at Costco? yesterday at the local the line was was one and a half times around the building by the time they opened for senior hours, and shopping carts are buy no means six feet long.

Many state parks have closed their cabins but left their campsites, showers and toilets open.

Simon Says: Hide in you bathroom closet until the siren stops.
If I decide to go fishing Sunday, then Ranger Rick had better bring friends. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT.

Were I young again I think it would be great fun to head into the Smokies to stealth camp and hide from the rangers.

That makes some sense, but still seems like overkill. Whats wrong with ‘enter at own risk’?

In a couple of weeks we’ll hear how clear the water has become and the trout, deer, bears and elk populations are exploding from lack of human contact.

At Home Depot, they now have bouncers. As a customer leaves, they let another one in.
...........
But the kicker is that there is hardly anyone in the store. What is their problem? Why would Home Depot get the big crowds? Running out of house paint?

The wildlife has all become lazy. They'll have to learn to forage and live off the land without tourists in the wilderness.

Seems like nobody likes NY Staters, lately?
Like the people, so long as they stay up there.
To: Tax-chick
Maybe if they provided cleaning supplies and let the campers clean up after themselves ... although I can imagine knock-down-drag-out fights of the sort that develop among my teenaged sons when the bathroom is a sty but everyone refuses to clean it.
So long as protective gloves and soap are provided, I would have no problem with that.
To: The_Media_never_lie
Or everyone could bring their own cleaning supplies and clean the bathrooms, because who wants to use a disgusting bathroom.
