The United Kingdom said Friday that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Johnson was tested for COVID-19 on Thursday after experiencing “mild symptoms,” a spokesman for No. 10 Downing Street said in a statement.
“The test was carried out in No 10 by NHS staff and the result of the test was positive,” the spokesman said. “In keeping with the guidance, the Prime Minister is self-isolating in Downing Street.”
“He is continuing to lead the government’s response to coronavirus.”
Johnson confirmed his diagnosis in a tweet Friday morning.
“I’ve developed mild symptoms of the coronavirus, that is to say a temperature and a persistent cough,” Johnson said in a video posted to the website.
“But be in no doubt that I can continue, thanks to the wizardry of modern technology, to communicate with all my top team, to lead the national fight back against coronavirus,” Johnson said.

That’s good that people have stuck indoors. Here in Poland the weather is mostly miserable. Plus Poles are hypochondriacs :) and are scared of this so are following the rules strictly

That’s a little harsh. Taking precautions is wise, but is no guarantee you won’t get exposed. They say the virus lasted something like 14 days on the cruise ship after everyone left. The vast majority of “carriers” are asymptomatic, or have such mild symptoms that they have no idea they have been infected. Many were infected weeks before the virus was in the news, and before social distancing was even a thing.
That means a lot of people are going to continue to get exposed regardless of social distancing, masks, hand washing, etc.
If you happen to live or work in a densely populated spot, where there are already many infections, it is hard to imagine how you could avoid exposure. Let’s just hope you are among the vast majority of exposures where symptoms are mild, or even non existent.

real simple: the nature of their job prevents them from “cowering in place” ... the same as doctors, nurses, firemen and policemen, et. al. ...
It’s that the virus is very widespread to folks with little or no symptoms
Which means the death rate outside folks with comorbidity issues is tiny
That’s what it means
Sadly it’s a perfect storm to kill folks vulnerable
97% have it with mild or no symptoms
That three percent is at risk
I’m in that 3 Percent which is why I take hydroxchloroquine 200mg every 2-3 days per various prophylaxis protocols

What should the 97 percent sacrifice to save the 3 percent?

The real stat to maybe contribute that answer is what is the death rate for those at most risk and how does it compare with other contagions

Here in Nashville with 2.3 million metro and we have around 300 cases confirmed by testing and I think now six have been hospitalized and two died. The rest are at home with mild or no symptoms
That doesn’t sound overwhelmed but that’s Nashville which I’d assume for this means mostly Vanderbilt, St Thomas and Centennial . Maybe the outlier suburban cases
