NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday girded New Yorkers for a long, hard fight against the coronavirus.
I have to be honest about the fact that we do not expect this to go quickly, and I wish we did, but we dont, de Blasio said. But I have to respectfully disagree with (President Donald Trump when he says), as he said earlier today, that hes not looking at months for this crisis. I have to say, Mr. President, I wish that was the case for New York City, I hope thats the case for the other parts of the country, but right now we are looking at months.
De Blasio had previously said estimates on New York Citys medical supplies lasting to the end of the month did not match the increased rate of infection, and supplies were not expected to last the week.
We are doing all we can just to get through March right now, particularly in terms of our health care system, he said. April will unquestionably be worse than March, and right now, my fear is May could be worse than April. Thats the reality were facing. I think the notion that we could be quote-unquote back to normal in April is absolutely inconceivable at this point.

Maybe not back to “normal” but it could be economically functioning beyond just first responders, healthcare and takeout/delivery.
“NYC is a sewer, at best”
I’ll go this far: NYC is not like 99% of the geographic area of our country. The other 99% isn’t going to remain crippled just because NYC and other hot spots (sewers) remain crippled.
Our local news tonight showed them setting up tents at one of the hospitals. They didn’t mention how many Corona virus patients were at the hospital.
On the national news we listened to the hardships of nurses right now. I note that they are employed and that contract nurses can make up to $100/hr ($200k per year).
Just checked. 779 Corona virus deaths in our counry. “and up to 12,000 [flu] deaths this season” according to the CDC.
With DeBlasio as mayor, it may take years.
Sounds like he wants his people to suffer
NYC is an open sewer. Ill be content if I never set foot in that place again.
Don’t mind the maggots.
It’s inconceivable that this Communist clown ever became NYC mayor. And yet it happened. This ain’t your granpappy’s NYC.
Actually NYC is 5 boroughs. It’s not all on one island.
When asked what makes NYC pizza the best, the rat said, Its da watta, mack! Everybody knows dat!
Im not seeing it, but I like the way you think!
Just remember a communist takeover means total control over everything. I do believe the good mayor has a vested interest in chaos.
Even the rats work harder?
NYC will never be “normal”.
LOL. That song was playing in my mind as soon as I saw the GIF of the rat hauling a slice of pizza down the stairs.
ALMOST 7 PERCENT OF NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICERS CALL OUT SICK IN A SINGLE DAY AS CITY BATTLES CORONAVIRUS
Calling Snake Pliskin.
Too bad for NYC...see ya around while the rest of us move on...
Hopefully. Its going to be fact dependent. Its not a foregone conclusion.
They already tried that once...
Who would want “normal” from NYC anyway. Unless normal is giant flames.
