Shortly after Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced his order for Illinois residents to stay at home in his boldest attempt to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, gunshots rang out in the West Pullman neighborhood.
A 25-year-old man was walking east about 4:20 p.m. Friday in the 11500 block of South Perry when one of the bullets pierced his neck, according to Chicago police. He was rushed to Roseland Hospital in good condition as officers began investigating.
While life for many Chicagoans has come to a grinding halt as many businesses and all schools have been forced to close in the wake of the rising COVID-19 crisis, shootings continued to plague communities on the South and West sides.

Gee I would think murderers and gang members and drug dealers and rapists would really obey the word of law on this one.
I’m a good citizen and even I’M trying to figure out how to make a buck off of this whole thing.
Criminals will Take Advantage off all of this in any way they can.
That I’m sure of.
Essential jobs
All the more reason to arm yourself to protect family and kin from the media induced panic and chaos.
Good point. On the other hand, most likely more people die from gunshots than Corona19.
By far, but good luck finding hysterical, panic inducing stories on that slaughter from the corrupt media.
I can’t discuss my armed status as I live in the USSR of NY.
But I can say me and mine will be safe.
The exponential growth of coronavirus deaths is deemed a pandemic
The steady stream of predicted gun deaths is ok, I guess - just part of the background noise. Sad.
I think the unspoken mental basis for the article is that you would think the murders would stop because of social responsibility. The author is expecting civilized behavior from feral animals who, by accident, look and sound human. Animals do not understand sickness or non-animalistic needs.
It’s a similar issue with the “homeless.” Liberals assume that because they are called “the homeless” that if you give them a home then the problem is solved. But, as with the shootings by feral humans, liberals have misidentified the problem. It isn’t homelessness. It is mental illness, alcoholism and drug addiction. None of which can be solved by giving them a home.
Wow what a great post.
Had a pretty bad head injury over a dozen years ago but doing very well now besides a few leftover symptoms.
But maybe the 2nd through 6th year I would have been homeless if not for a Great Gal at the time.
There’s a lot of vets out there homeless and that breaks my heart.
You nailed it with drug addiction, alcoholism and mental illness.
The brain injured fall under mental illness. You can function but you’re not all there..it’s hard to explain.
I feel Much more compassion for the TBI vets after my experience.
And having done some slightly south of legal things in my late teens and 20s, and being around low level mafiosi, I can say i am SURE that they see this as opportunity.
To rob, to sell more narcotics to bored kids, to send out more prostitutes.
They are not at ALL about society’s well being.
The murdering of rival gangs in large number is Almost Gone in the Mafia. And they were never known for spraying bullets with kids and women around like the bloods and crips.
But a criminal is a criminal.
Aren’t abortionists also continuing their evil, deadly procedures?
The only ne to die was shot at 12:50 am. whether he was coming or going to/from work at the homeless shelter, Nothing good happens after midnight.
They would break any law to continue.
Is there a difference in killing your child today or 2 or 3 weeks from now?
It just shows that they have a Lust for it or they wouldn’t care about being shut down for 3 weeks.
Maybe they are afraid that some women might come to their senses
Just wait till all the police are down with the flu.
truer words were not spoken.
...So, death, taxes and Chicago shootings....?
Although there is danger to businesses in Chicago, the weakest economic player is the state of Illinois
I look for illinois to fail economically as their cash flow deteriorates and the state can’t meet payroll and retirement payments. Ditto New York
Well, some good news for a change...
