Me and my family vacationed in Rarotonga (Cook Islands) in March 1984 and Kenny happened to be there as well, staying at the main five star hotel there (which was a short distance from where we were) and there was a little publicity given to him being there. In any event, we were talking with someone who said he went to use the tennis court at the main hotel and just as he and his friend were going in to use it, guess who just came off (presumably after using it a little himself).

That’s mostly how people knew him. That song and Ruby.
Oh, and Dolly.

My favorite KR commercial was that one with him singing
The Gambler while playing cards with his friends.
The looks on those guys faces were great.

“Through the Years”was our wedding song after dating on and off for too many years through difficult times. And yes, we are still together 34 years later.

I saw him perform with the ‘First Edition’ at the Chautauqua Amphitheater way back when I was in high school in the early 70’s.
During the summer, Thursdays were special event performances - so growing up down the shoreline (Chautauqua Lake, Chautauqua Co. NY) we were treated to many a show from different acts over the years. Many of us local kids had jobs there during the summer.

I remember his commercial for a learn to play guitar booklet. The "Quick Pickin', Fun Strummin'" method, if memory serves.

He told the story of this record. It was a minor regional hit in 1958. He decided to not sign autographs because he wanted to be cool and everything, like some of the big stars.
His next hit came 10 years later....he signed autographs..

Thanks.
I feel the loss too.....
Think Ruby might be up there waiting for him?
