The “death” rate (which is an improper measurement unless all cases are known)is dropping fast, now down to 1.26%.

My memory is that number was 3.8% maybe 8-9 days ago.
The responsibility of balancing the disease risk against the economic risk is not one I would relish guessing about.
And it is just a guess. We will never really know how good a guess once it takes place, probably little by little.

Several people on here have posted first hand claims or anecdotes about one or two degrees of separation.
Given the small numbers of infected and the small number of FReepers active, I have my doubts that any FReepers have really had a confirmed case, been treated, recovered and are out of quarantine. I could be wrong, but why didn’t they post about it during the event, like while they were recovering in a hospital?
I do see a couple FluBros making claims they had it and recovered and it was “just the flu” but I attribute that to panic over the destruction of their narrative rather than fact.
The number of active FReepers is probably in the low hundreds, if that, but let’s say 200 for easy math. The number of confirmed infected is 16,638, or roughly 1 in 20,000 Americans. The odds of a single individual being in both groups is pretty small, around 1%. That’s a 1% chance that *any* FReeper has been confirmed, treated, etc. And then they’d have to be at the right point in the process to be on here telling war stories.
I actually think he makes sense. Imagine how many resources would be freed up if old people were to suddenly die off in mass numbers. Less in SS payments, less in Medicare payments, less in retirement payments by companies, as well as, governments at every level. Of course the well off financially will not be affected at all, but then they are few and far between, and they don’t rely on government resources.

I go out only when necessary. I avoid people. I come home and scrub my hands. I’m avoiding most posts on the virus and 95% of the news. Occam’s Razor.
