ALBANY Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered a statewide lockdown amid the worsening coronavirus pandemic Friday that will shut down most of the Empire State including New York City.
I want to be able to say to the people of New York I did everything we could do, Cuomo said. And if everything we do saves just one life, Ill be happy.
The restrictions take effect Sunday night at 8 p.m. and will:
Shut down all non-essential businesses across the state, leaving just grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential operations open Ban all non-solitary outside activity, like outdoor basketball games and other team sports Require all non-essential government and private sector employees work from home Laundromats and gas stations will be allowed to remain open, as will restaurants for take-out and delivery service. Cuomo said the MTA will continue to run the city subways and buses and the MetroNorth and Long Island railroads.
We have to do it, we have to be serious, Cuomo told reporters at the state capitol.
Everyone has personal freedom and everyone has personal liberty and Ill always protect that, he added. But everyone also has a responsibility to everyone else.

I really don’t like the heat but i might have to
I need a fresh new start on 10 different levels
Rational Americans: Get out of socialist states while you can. Next thing you know, they’ll be coming after YOUR money and YOUR guns...oh...wait...
So, everyone stay home, but we’ll keep the filthiest incubators of disease known to man, operating empty, in case no one wants a ride?
Liberals have no sense of irony, whatsoever!
This commie doesn’t know what freedom is.
Kind of argues against Agenda 21, doesn’t it...
They’ll bilk the folks in flyover, that’s what they’ll do when their own chattel run out of money.
The mentality is “I will be criticized later if I don’t do this, even if it doesn’t help, so I’m going to do it.”
The whole fricking country has gone INSANE, my mom has a neighbor that calls her everyday with the damn statistics of our county she is freaking out over 17 cases in a population of 900,000 GEEZE LOUISE!!!
I work for a defense contractor, our company is telling the governor to go F himself. We have however taken some pretty drastic actions to limit how many people in one area, set up a large number of folks to work from home, and have implemented a pretty aggressive cleaning and hygiene policy.
Where ya going?
I don’t know but I lived hard until 40, got myself damaged, better now and WANT PEACE at 51.
Somewhere with a LOT of space
A chance to start over
Pathetic.
If this goes on for a while, I cannot see how the state, county and city taxing authorities cannot provide some tax relief or tax holiday because the citizens won’t have any money. Expect local infrastructure to start falling apart and becoming dilapidated at some point.
I know this board is a live virus in its own right but SC
is the best and I don’t even live there. Shhh.
Report from Upstate NY liquor store: Busy, and folks in line more po’ed at Fredo’s bro than scared of WuFlu.
My cousin in Northern NY has a guy who mows people’s lawns (surprising because they are out in the country with no neighbors, so who cares what the lawn looks like!).
He and probably his other customers are never home when he does (or at least do not come out). They leave the money in a can at the door, or a check in the door.
My cousin calls and says - so that guy, who does not interact with anyone while he mows - he can’t do his job? He’s out of work?
We’ll defeat COVID-19 at the expense I believe of destroying our economy.
I've made this point before (not that it's some starting revelation) - people won't work for free.
Cuomo - “He said if everything the state does could save just one life, it would be worth it.”
Think about that over the next two weeks.
These are interesting times!
Well defeat COVID-19 at the expense I believe of destroying our economy.
The math for the Wu Flu Panic is staggering. Trillions spent or lost. Almost certainly hundreds of millions of dollars per US fatality.
