Having watched several such briefings on YouTube, I only have two words for CNN:
YOU LIE!!!!
Actually. The way I saw it. Trump introduced the drug in the press conference and the FDA guy explained how any doctors and patients could get the drug through a trial as long as the results are reported to the FDA and thus, it was approved for anyone through the trial.
I agree.
We only have CNN and CNBC in addition to the (lots) of VN channels here.
CNN is ridiculously negative on Trump.
Really, really bad.
It is ridiculous.
This point needs to be made over and over again: There are few things so low as the undermining of confidence in government at a time of crisis.
Contrast that with...
Media’s Negativity Won’t Dampen the American Spirit - Silver linings accompany most catastrophic
Uh, no. It is vitally important to know what the enemedia is doing and saying. As disgusting as their actions are...we need to stay aware.
My first thought was “CNN peddles unsubstantiated dark times when things are hopeful.”
While CNN provides unsubstantiated doom & gloom.
Good mercy, if you dont know what theyve been saying for all these years, you havent been paying attention!
WE NEED HOPE!.....not more lies!
I admire our President for always trying to bring us hope!
Better to counter the lies and expose the dark side for what they truly are, evil.
The FDA guy talked about both. And he did say that the drug was available now. But how broadly available and how soon was left open. Without that you really dont have much.
what a horrific op-ed.
We need someone to lead us in hope, faith, love.
And that’s the real difference between us and them. Hope unites people. Faith lifts us up to live our higher selves in dark times. And love would never attempt to take away those things in dark and trying times.
If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

“He made it sound like it will be available to all of us soon”
That’s rediculous, there is no evidence (yet) that the drug can be used as a preventative measure. So Trump in no way was promising pills for all. For those already ill most will recover on there own. The high risk already infected should get Chloroquine. I have no doubt we have the necessary inventory to handle that for now. Meantime if this gets bad ten million pills (so far) are being donated by Bayer and Teva Pharmaceutical. Based on dosages used for Malaria 10 million pills would treat a couple million people. Azithromycin would appear to work hand in hand with Chloroquine and together be very effect. I’m more worried about Azithromycin inventories.
The closer America approaches the point of getting over the hump on this virus the more desperate the media will get. This virus could be their last chance to derail Trump and they know it.
The news of effective medication and the emerging stats of who’s really at risk are getting the media in panic mode.

He is shouting fire in a crowded theater and has forfeited his right to life
Both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquin are available at a hospital near me. I'm told the infectious disease specialist protocol includes hydroxychloroquine and azitrhromycin as mentioned in the small French study. Their second line drug is one of the antivirals that is believed to have some efficacy.
That said these medications are in the control of the hospital specialists and are given out when they deem it's necessary. We certainly don't have supply to give it to everybody who tests positive but there should be more than enough to treat the bad cases.
I believe President Trump is making sure there is no impediment to ramp up the available supply so that more people who are at risk can be given the treatment and that the treatment can be expanded without having to wait for clinical trials. These drugs can certainly be used off label as of now. But getting the FDA to temporarily approve the medication would let Doctors prescribe without fear of reprisals from lawyers.
I think you have it right. That is exactly what we heard. Trump gets his B+ for bringing up the potential for the new drug without all the normal waffling you get from the government types.
The FDA guy should have been stronger in support of Trumps comments and then given us his what, when, where, who pitch. He didnt.
