You have a way with words, and you are totally right. Lol
We’re not old. We have just begun to understand Fonzy jumping the shark was actually a metaphor that applies today.
We had to walk 4 miles to school every day uphill. Both ways.
And, we're so old we've got the Neanderthal gene that makes us tough to kill.
Kid Rock is doing that about his bar
not sure where that stands
One thing we also saw was the Cuban Missile Crisis resolved, the Cold War ending peacefully, the Berlin Wall come down, Adolf Eichmann put to death, the Vietnam War end, radical hippies get tired of their revolution and go to work on Wall Street. Things work themselves out.
well if you are that old you dont need toilet paper.
Magazines will do.
As long as you dont flush them
You forgot, or are maybe too young to remember, the nuclear war drills we did as kids, hiding under our desks and in the coat rooms.
Because you’ve never had to face any real adversity or discomfort, dickhead.
And CroMagnon jeans (sic) that make us want to kill neanderthals;-}
Also, Y2K and the oil rig fire/spill in the gulf...cant even remember the name...something Horizon?
Topic reminds me of this wonderful cut from a Boomer-favorite band.
Last album, last song.
“Nothing Changes”
A more honest drill would have been, “put your heads between your legs and kiss your asses goodbye.”
I haven’t seen a lot of younger people ‘panicking’. Many seem to be partying like it’s 1999, in close contact, with no concern for their own health, nor as to how many they may infect later.
(And as for the old people, as someone else noted: it’s not our first rodeo. Try growing up with your father storing used Clorox bottles full of water in the basement, and your teachers instructing you on hunkering under your school desks with your little butts to the windows.)
Flush? Outhouses don’t have plumbing!
Theres no need to panic if you understand the risks and mitigate them you can handle quite a number of risky things in life. I have parachuted, scuba dived, rappelled into caves and climbed mountains. Panic never helps anything.
Oh yeah...deep water horizon...was supposed to be a black swan event.
Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. He can’t be a dickhead yet. He’s still just a dumb little sh!t. Ten years from now he’ll be a dickhead.
Let’s not overlook the heterosexual AIDS pandemic.
That is a good question.
Just because I am prepared and not taking any unnecessary risks, does NOT mean I am *panicking*.
However, I've noticed that many people like to feel superior to others and they do that by falsely accusing them of things and mocking them, and then setting themselves up as an example of what life SHOULD look like.
Yeah, seen that too, along with all the other TEOTWAWKI scenarios.
And honestly, my prepping is not to survive the flu. It's to survive the general populace's reaction to the crisis du jour.
“We are being told that the elderly are at risk. Boomers dont want to think of themselves as elderly.”
Botox/tummy tuck generation.
You nailed it.
