CANTON, Mich. (WXYZ) Canton police say a person was attempting to sell toilet tissue at $60 a case in a parking lot.
The incident happened Wednesday morning in a Meijer's parking lot. This example of price gouging comes after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an order for tougher restrictions on businesses trying to price gouge shoppers during the coronavirus outbreak.
The man who capture video of the absorbently priced tissue sale said he posted the image to social media were it was shared over 1000 times.
Mike Arcuragi, the man who took the photo, says its ridiculous people are trying to take advantage of others in a time when people need to be helping one another.
"I just wish people would calm down and quit hoarding and lets live life, well get over this," he said.

It's unclear at this time what repercussions, if any, the person faced.
Why make a big deal out of this? If someone is stupid enough to pay...
Nobody is forced to pay that amount. They can just walk into the store and buy it for the normal price. Oh, wait....
Is the writer THAT smart? Or THAT stupid?
Or likes PUNS!......................
For a case? Could be worse.
We went all over town last evening looking for TP.
EVERY STORE WAS EMPTY!.........................
I’ve posted a million times there is NO such thing as “price gouging “. That’s just a liberal term . America is a free market economy. You don’t feel comfortable buying it...THEN DONT effing BUY IT. period. Because some people will..
> He was wiped out!....................... <
Quit joking around, Red. This man is a stain on his community. Hed better clean up his act.
:)
“Caught” might be a bit of an overstatement, despite the cop car in the photo.
The very last words in the article:
“It’s unclear at this time what repercussions, if any, the person faced.”
Am wondering how many of these fights over TP are staged for our displeasure. Cam phones seem to catch ALL the details.
Zactly
$10,000 per sheet
Fortunately, he has plenty of toilet paper to clean up after he sh*ts himself.
Hmm, I spend ~$22 at Walmart for a GENERIC Case of 24 MEGARolls. Wondering what a similar 48-pak of Charmin would cost, and how outrageous the markup really was.
Likely cuz the state wasn't getting its cut of the sales tax.
Wonder how the market is for old corn cobs and Sears catalogs??
“Price gouging” is a negative term for supply and demand.
Ridiculous.
What exactly IS “price gouging”?
Having an in demand item and selling it for what people are willing to pay??
What is the EXACT mark up the triggers the “price gouging” flag?
When the hospital charges $80 for a tylenol, but it’s delivered by a nurse, that is NOT price gouging. $15 for a beer or $10 for a bottled water an event is Ok and Not price gouging?
