Theyre gonna fight for their right to party.
Thousands of American college students refuse to let the pesky coronavirus pandemic get in the way of their annual pilgrimage to Florida for spring break.
Ignoring repeated warnings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization about the potentially deadly COVID-19 virus, the masses showed up in Miami only to find their good times hijacked by safety measures to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus that are taking effect.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the closure of all bars and nightclubs in the state for 30 days as of Tuesday evening after college crews were spotted partying at Clearwater Beach. A lot of students have just been congregating at the universities and doing things there, and thats not something we want, DeSantis said at a news conference Tuesday.
Resolute revelers in the citys South Beach neighborhood, however, vowed to keep the party popping.
If I get corona, I get corona, Brady Sluder, a defiant party animal of indeterminate age from Ohio, told Reuters. At the end of the day, Im not going to let it stop me from partying.
Launching at the peak of Miamis tourist season, social distancing precautions will also see national movie theaters, gyms and other businesses shut down to discourage gatherings of more than 10 people, which the CDC warns could spread the virus. However, the governor stopped short of closing some of the beaches spring-breakers were partying on, WFLA reported.

I am sure they have test kits. No one has shown up at the hospital with flu-like symptoms.
Only if they come in contact with elderly and they are infected. The college age group wont get impacted by this very much. They are the low risk category and to be honest they should be out spending and keeping the economy going.
The best solution is to quarantine 70 and above for 2-3 weeks. 55 and above if they have serious conditions that put them at risk. Everyone else should be business as usual. To be honest, everyone else has more of a chance getting killed going to and from work than by this disease.
You kids get off my lawn!!!
There is nothing sadder than out-living your life.
Some people try to gauge the risk and decide what to do. We took a vacation to Gran Canaria just as things were starting to get dicey. There were no reported cases on our island yet so we went. We got back on March 12th. On the 16th they put the entire country in lockdown. We had a good time and we are still in good health. If I had as much information as those spring breakers had I would have cancelled but I can understand how they might think it’s worth the risk.
And we know where theres a big party going on, but its a secret.
Youth is wasted on the young.
At that age, I would have done the same.
Have been tempted to travel and hit the beach now, but the spouse and daughter have been pretty adamant, and I know better than to torque them off.
everyone of them when leaving should be hauled off to a quarantine camp for a month, all of them. How is this any different than some one spitting in your coffee
The TYT generation.
Most every fatality is because of some underlying condition. Teenagers and 20-somethings who get this have worse effects from the Jagermeister they shotgunned the night before.
Is that because old vulnerable people are flocking to the beaches? Or hotels? Or bars? Or the restaurants?
0.0% odds of that.
How many of these spring breakers even pay for their own health insurance?
Maybe if they had some skin in the game, they’d behave differently.

For now, and hopefully for good - but it appears that the Netherlands’ experience with age group vulnerability is different (a report I saw said over 50% of those hospitalized are under 50). Mutation?
I think they’re right, but I also bet they’d be breaking ...if WuFlu affected youngsters too....which is does not.
I just got back from the Big Island of Hawaii, was there for a week. I must have been in the last wave of tourists. It was awesome... now back to the grind and all the dead bodies in the street... In Hawaii, it was like nothing bad was going on.... but once the planes stop...that place is in trouble. The Big Island was finally recovering from 2008 and the recent volcanic disruption...
I do suspect that local vacations and camping will be the “Big Thing” this summer.
Exactly right.
Ironic that these kids will ignore health warnings but if you say a wrong word they will demand safe spaces and your head.
It’s impossible to reason with drunks.
Smart as you.
