Dare County Is Closed To All Visitors

DARE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Dare County says it is keeping visitors out due to concerns with the coronavirus.

While the county says they have had no cases of the pandemic yet, they made the decision to limit the spread of coronavirus.

Checkpoints were set up at 2:00 p.m. at entry points into the county, and no visitors will be allowed.

Dare County says only permanent residents, non-resident property owners and non-resident employees of businesses within the county will be allowed.

Those with valid driver's license with a Dare or Currituck county address or a government-issued ID card with a local address will be allowed in the county.

Non-resident property owners can use a current tax bill, while non-resident employees can use a pay stub or an employee ID badge, all with a matching current government-issued ID.

The county also says visitors will not be able to use Dare County to access Corolla, Ocracoke Island or Tyrrell County. Those who live, own property or work in Corolla or Ocracoke will be allowed entry, the news release says.

No problem to those who know how to run the backroads. There were lots of pros in the backwoods a few decades back with a lot of experience outrunning Johnny Law.

I believe this is the Outer Banks of NC. There’s no reason for anyone to go there who is just passing through, and I imagine the law enforcement people there have plenty of experience with lockdowns and roadblocks during hurricanes.

I’m waiting for armed people to start blocking towns and areas.

You can get your banners and roadblocks cheap from China...

Not letting some people in is one thing, but they aren’t keeping it away when they allow people to leave too.

But that’s a jail.

I am just wondering where in the Constitution does it say they have the power of quarantines and lock downs?

I am just wondering where in the Constitution does it say they have the power of quarantines and lock downs?

Then you have edict mad state governors and city mayors trying to outdo each other with "emergency orders" like the NM guv.

SANTA FE, N.M.- Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced a new Public Emergency Order Wednesday that calls for the closing of various establishments in an attempt to stop the spread of COVID-19. The order requires all restaurants in New Mexico to be limited to take-out and food delivery, starting Thursday. The governor is requiring shopping malls, recreational facilities, movie theaters, spas and athletic clubs to close. Casinos, not operated by Tribal authorities, bars and horse racing operations will also be forced to close. The governor does not have the authority to force tribes to close their casinos, but she said most have already agreed to do so. The order also requires hotels, motels and lodging businesses should go to 50% of capacity. Stores will also be required to limit three hygiene items per person to avoid hoarding. The order will stay in place through April 10, but it could be extended if the coronavirus spreads. People who defy the order could face civil penalties.

They going to put a cop at every self checkout to make sure yo get no more than 3 hygene items?..... Wouldn't put it past them.

As a coastal region, Dare County has it easy. Just block two bridges, one road from the southern mainland, and only residents board the ferry. No back roads available, boat access only.

Are they going to stop semis making food deliveries to the local markets? How about fuel trucks delivering gasoline? Do they have their own health care infrastructure including hospitals? Do they have their own electrical power generation and distribution system? Just asking.
