Stocks tumbled on Wednesday as the markets remained highly volatile with the government response to the coronavirus fallout still unfolding. A violent reversal in Treasury yields in response to a potential $1 trillion stimulus package helped to unnerve investors.
The S&P 500 fell 7% around 1 p.m. ET, triggering a marketwide “circuit breaker” trading halt while the Nasdaq Composite slid 6.3%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1,660 points, or more than 7%. The circuit breaker halts trading across the U.S. exchanges for 15 minutes and is meant to ensure orderly market behavior. Wednesday market the fourth time in a week that a circuit breaker was triggered.

The elites that wanted to dump Trump discovered that the on the margin short traders have taken the markets beyond their control; they need to be forced to cool their heels for a while or made to put more skin on the line. The AI auto sell algorithms also needed to be put into suspension for a while and humans made more responsible for managing the mess.

I came to the same conclusion last Friday that this China Virus has them spooked, big time.
The President looked beat down, his staff looked even worse.
The so-called numbers they are giving don’t even come close to justifying the downright over-reaction every dang Gov’t is having right now.
I have a friend in Argentina and the local police came and forced them to sign an affidavit promising to not allow any visitors from foreign nations for 1 year. The entire town where they live is on lock-down and nobody can leave their homes. All due to this China Virus.
Got another friend in Romania saying that they are going in start shutting that country down as well. I wish I had a friend in S Korea to let me know the goings on there.
In a country of over a billion people 50 or 100 thousand is insignificant, especially from a country that locks up muslims in concentration camps...a country that harvests organs and at one time limited families to one child and used forced abortion to enforce the policy...

You actually think something along the lines of Armageddon as you suggest could be kept a secret? And are you saying the markets are reacting the way they are because they somehow know?
Mine is simple:Measure.
Buy what is going up.
Sell what is going down.
I got lucky and bailed on my 401k (s&P 500 fund) and moved into a stable investment fund. The S&P was at 2882 when I sold, only eight days ago.
As of this post it’s at 2314, down around 20% from my exit and 32% from its all time high of 3393.
Going to buy back in four installments beginning today if the markets are even open. I’ll have three more buying opportunities if if continues to tank.
Order has to be placed before 4 pm to get sold/bought at the days closing price. At least that’s my plan.
Of course China has only their best interests in mind (including economics and power) - which is why it makes no sense to me that they would create a virus and deliberately release it in their own country first without also developing a vaccine/cure.
No it’s not crazy. It’s purposeful and on purpose. Stop the short selling all together. Institute the uptick rule. I wish I knew why President Trump is not doing this. We will be down to 10,000 in short order unless something is done. If anyone thinks that this is not being done on purpose buy those billionaires around the world who want President Trump out then they are absolutely blind.
Yea dp i remember distinctly a memory while partying at a beach side club one night on Cape Cod late 80’s and looking at some of the older people there and thinking that yea, it will be almost infinity before i get to that age.

I know, but I’m still skeptical about this particular situation. Japan didn’t bomb themselves and Germany didn’t declare war on their own country. I believe that if China was capable of engineering the virus they were also capable of engineering a vaccine - and would have done so prior to deliberate release in their own country. Makes too much strategic sense for them not to have.

Yes there is, and we saw it in Wuhan at the end of the second week of the city-wide shutdown. Civil disobedience. People running roadblocks. It at least put that criminal, Xi Wuhanxing, on notice that he better have an exit strategy to the lockdown. Wuhan is back on but with the same roadblocks and checkpoints, more as a show of force than anything else (today's pic of the Wuhan dude with his mask akilter not even touching the dude's forehead with the radiant thermometer lol).

It is Bull Shit. There is absolutely no reason for this drop in market value to continue as it has. Stock manipulation by large investors including China. Trump need to do an in-depth investigations by an outside accounting firm.
I bet a lot of countries conduct research into Bioweapons if for no other reason than to deal with them in case one is used against them...
