GOP Sen. Collins: Trump Should ‘Step Back’ and Make Fauci the Spokesman
Breitbart ^ | March 13,2020 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 03/15/2020 6:44:12 AM PDT by Hojczyk

During a press conference on Friday, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) criticized the federal government’s response to the coronavirus and the “inconsistent” messaging from the federal government. She called on President Trump “to step back and appoint one of our public health officials to be the spokesman” and suggested Dr. Anthony Fauci serve as the spokesperson and give daily briefings on the virus.

Collins said, “We are making progress at the federal level, but I am not satisfied with the response. I think that the messaging at the federal level has been inconsistent. And when you’re dealing with a novel virus like this, it’s very important that health professionals be out front, and that there be a consistent message. We also, in some parts of the country, are experiencing shortages of tests.”

She added, “I would like the president to step back and appoint one of our public health officials to be the spokesman as we go through dealing with this novel virus. My suggestion would be that Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been around for decades, is such a well-regarded infectious disease specialist, has dealt with everything from AIDS to the Zika virus and H1N1 flu be the public face for the federal government. I believe he should give a briefing at the same time each day to update the American people and to also make sure that the messaging is consistent.”

Fauci speaks for only one of the many agencies that must cooperate effectively to respond to this emergency. But an old RINO wouldn’t understand anything about that.

I know it’s a different situation but I didn’t want to hear from anybody but Rudy on 9/11. I didn’t want to hear from an expert on disasters or terrorism. I wanted to hear from our leader. The governor and president didn’t have much to say so hearing Rudy was a great relief

Fauci and the CDC are the problem along with congress...

Trump is not the problem... Fauci says things are being done ...

At the pace the federal government works ....slowly

Congress got what it wanted more spending for nothing

This dumbass RINO is worried about the MESSAGING? What about the results? What about the actions being taken (some screwy ones, to be sure)?
How on earth will DJT ever convince the lefturds (including this assclown) that this response saved lives; that fewer people died than otherwise would have? Damn near impossible to prove a negative, as we know.
Last thing needed, at the moment, is more of these idiots spouting more opinionated BS.

I don’t really care who presents the message, be it Trump or Pence or Fauci or someone else, but I would like it if everyone was on the same page and delivering a consistent story. All too often Trump will say one thing and Fauci will say another, Pence will say one thing only to have to walk it back the next day. The President should be the one delivering the facts and calming the public but his team has to either brief him better or stay on his message.

Trump is not now and never has been the spokesman

He's the president. Every time he says something he's a spokesman.

Her goal is to be seen and heard. The actual message is irrelevant. A mild anti Trump thought appeals to her constituents

How trivial. Maybe she didn’t watch the ticker rise to nearly 2000+ while Trump was LEADING a GROUP of experts. (Sit down and shut up Susan, we doing need political pollution from RINOs)
