Pedro Santiago Sr. — also known as Don Pedro — was a patriarch in the Latino community, a guitarist and part of the local Latino musical group Trio Los Arpegio.

He died on Wednesday when the 78-year-old was stabbed by a Rochester man in what his family described as a vicious attack.

The Rochester Police Department said 30-year-old Jose Sanchez stabbed Santiago to death near Nester Street in Rochester.

Santiago’s niece Mercedes Simmons said the suspect is the victim’s step son and had many restraining orders against him. The family said Sanchez was released from jail under controversail new bail reform law a day before the alleged crime happened.

“To everyone out there that has someone, that knows someone that has gone through some violence, you know how we feel” Pedro Santiago jr. said, the victim’s son.

“It’s not right. Jail reform has to change. This is a violent crime that happened because he was released, not because he was in jail where he was supposed to be. But because he was released. The system has failed my father.

It's like flushing a toilet...

I agree, it has to be deliberate policy, there is no other explanation. And I agree their aim is to terrorize decent folks. Here in Britain, the gradual, drip-by-drip deconstruction of the justice system has been going on for 50-60 years starting with the abolition of the death penalty. I think it’s all part of the Marxists’ plan to remake society.

It sounds like he killed him on the street. This is a disgrace.

The family needs re-education, they’re supposed to call the perpetrator a white Hispanic and blame Trump and the Republicans for the murder.

He looks like he’d kill you if you put the wrong topping on his pizza.

I’ve known a few hot heads like that. Funny how, like this guy, they’ve all been latinos.

” many restraining orders”

I think a gun might have been a tad more effective for self defense.

I think they’re doing it for two reasons:

1) save money on jail costs - Dems are so busy throwing money at other non-essential programs they have to drain those things that really count.

2) they REALLY BELIEVE that all people are intrinsically good & if you just give them a chance they’ll behave themselves. Not to mention these are ‘aggrieved’ populations in the Dem’s minds. And of course they feel good about themselves for their progressive actions.

Of course, it could be a deliberate act to cause chaos in the streets, but I think they’re too stupid to have a real strategy for that. It can’t happen in just NY, it has to be nation-wide to ‘transform’ the country.
