...Dr. Roth has chosen to assume that there are discoverable psychological reasons why Donald Trump beat all rivals to become a disruptive president. Trump's personal psychology, Roth shows, met the psychological needs of a country that had lost its confident stance toward the future. It's why his slogan, "Make America Great Again" (MAGA), worked. His flawed humanity possessed skills that met the historical moment...

An interesting and in depth review.
This is actually quite a profound and interesting analysis.
The human race is not comprised of programmed robots.
Thank God we still have unique individuals.

I agree, it does seem worth reading, thank you for posting this interesting review.
Trump is not your usual person that goes into politics. He is weird in many ways. Watch the movies about Churchill and see all the similarities. Churchill had some issues. Sometimes the look on Trumps face looks just like the expression we see in Churchill photos. Maybe they share some unique personality quirks. But Churchill saved Great Britain and Trump may just save the United States and I’m not just talking about the Wuhan Virus.
I agree. Had insider insights from his pal relationship at ball games and so on. I liked the book.
I have a simpler explanation: He fights!
I read that book. Liked it a lot.
Thank you very much for posting this which alerted me to this book. I will order it. This is apparently my kind of book.
You can add this to your list of good deeds for the day.
Ping!
Sounds interesting, especially because I initially read it as Dr. Ruth.
They are quite different though, too. Churchill was a functioning alcoholic who smoked 12 or more cigars daily; while Trump is a tee-totaler who has never imbibed nor smoked anything. However, intelligence and courage-wise, they may be quite similar. Verrrry interrrresting, to say the least.
My thoughts exactly. And he fights for the right causes.
Any doctor who believes they can diagnose a patient without ever seeing or talking to them is a huge pretender, a fake, and a liar.
If it is a medical doctor they would probably lose their license, for a psychologist to do so is a very good indication they have lost their minds.
MALPRACTICE ANYONE?
Hundreds of voices as one:
"Yes, yes! We're all individuals!"
Lone voice:
"I'm Not."
VDH’s book A Case for Trump has some similar statements.
Trump is a man for his times.
We are fortunate to have him.
here is VDH discussing the book. He likens Trump to Patton, Sherman, and others who had courage and did hard work and were maligned by the weaker ones.

which is why this book is so refreshing, it talks about that very issue. and does not dx Trump but looks at his strengths and how they fit in our society and polity today.
