Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday said the Trump administration’s coronavirus response has been a “colossal” failure.
“The administration’s failure on testing is colossal. And it’s a failure of planning, leadership and execution,” Biden said at a press conference addressing the deadly outbreak. “By next week, the number of tests should be in the millions, not the thousands.”

Where are they to get the tests from? The FDA is still holding up the only method of mass testing despite the efforts of the task force.

The Cleveland Clinic has developed a test similar to the CDC test but with the ability to get results in 8 hours rather than 2 days. The PCR tests required DNA replication to get a large enough amount of virus DNA to detect. This takes takes time with the current test. The new test can detect the virus with a much smaller sample requiring less replication time. It still needs to be validated but it could allow for mass drive through testing in impacted areas. Any test will still require a physician’s order to prevent panics from making the tests unavailable to people that really need them. Here’s the link.
Obama changed the way Microbes can be tested in December of 2016. He forced the states to pay for and provide the testing no other agency could do it. Trump reversed this at the end of February of 2020
The original CDC test included two COVID-19 tests and a third test that was designed to rule out other non-COVID-19 viruses. It was this third test that was not reliable and the CDC pulled the kits while advising the labs to still use the other two COVID-19 tests which worked fine.

What’s so important about test kits? Standard operating procedure is you assume the patient has the worst condition that fits the symptoms and you work your way down.
During a pandemic, you assume everyone has the disease.

It took getting to a certain point for the masses to notice and begin to act accordingly regardless of what Trump might have done.
