President Donald Trump is expected to sign a $8.3 billion measure to combat the coronavirus outbreak but canceled a trip to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta amid growing scandal over the lack of testing kits.
The latest comes as the U.S. death role hits 12, Maryland announced its first coronavirus cases, and the markets continue to spiral amid uncertainty about the disease.
Vice President Mike Pence said during a visit to Washington state on Thursday that the president would sign the bill during a visit to the CDC in Atlanta on Friday.
'President Trump is expected to sign the legislation tomorrow as he visits the CDC in Atlanta,' he said.
But when Trump's schedule was released by the White House late Thursday night, the Atlanta trip was not on it and a senior administration official confirmed to DailyMail.com that the president will not being going there.
'The President is no longer traveling to Atlanta today. The CDC has been proactive and prepared since the very beginning and the President does not want to interfere with the CDCs mission to protect the health and welfare of their people and the agency,' the person said.

Smart decision to see Tennessee people affected.
We all know how the media is going to spin that.
Rule of Thumb:
If it has 3 letters and is headquartered in Washington, D.C., it’s pretty much incompetent and useless.
He has no choice but to sign the bill. If he didn’t, they would blame him for the effects of the disease.
money is fungible
the new money can be absorbed into the agency and previous money can be diverted to tasks whose money can be spent on border control
The CDC is an exception. It is headquartered in Atlanta. (And not completely government.)
Only if they can count it toward controlling disease at the border. (Which they ought to be able to do.)
He should very publicly REFUSE to sign it, and tell the people he wanted only 2 billion so they filled it up with 6 billion in pork.
Tell Congress to re-submit it without all the pork.
But he must make the point that the only reason he’s refusing to sign it is because of all the non-health related pork in it.
You did not follow the proposed trail.
The new money will be spent in the legislated agency. Other funding presently there can be diverted to something that has funds that can be diverted to tasks that have funds that can be diverted to border control
First his FL speech is cancelled, now this.
I read, the other day, that some of this money will go to helping other countries.
Maybe that part has been removed?
Do we have a breakdown, of what/how exactly this $$$$ will be used?
Exactly what I was thinking.
As much as I hate pork, that is only an option a person on FR can float, knowing that they are doing nothing more than virtue signaling for the crowd.
Which is why he’s the President, and you’re not.
Congress throwing money at him is a good thing. The border wall IS disease prevention, and he can’t get straight money for that.
There are lots of good uses for money that Trump can make. And I trust him that it will be used to America’s benefit, and not siphoned off into some “Clinton Foundation”-like thievery.
I found out more, about where the Coronavirus Bill funds are going to go....
...The legislation would provide federal public health agencies money for vaccines, tests and potential treatments, including...
$300 million to deliver such drugs to those who need it.
More than $2 billion would go to help federal, state and local governments prepare for and respond to the coronavirus threat.
An additional $1.3 billion would be used to help fight the virus overseas.
There’s also funding to subsidize $7 billion in small business loans....
~~~~
$7B to help cos losing money over this. (Stimulus?)
$1.3B for OVERSEAS??? Where’s WHOs money???? Time for World Bank to call this a pandemic and cash in those bonds (that are coming up, due).
I was in a meeting where were tried to talk Trump into running for Governor of New York, after he had publicly announced that he wouldn’t
He said “maybe I’ll run for president instead”
So... you’re welcome.
So, he’s two-to-zip with you. He’s doing that to a lot of folks.
Aside, I don’t know what’s in the Governorship of New York, but money to graft. Trump doesn’t seem to need that.
