White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro confirmed Wednesday the administration is working on an executive order to eliminate the governments reliance on foreign-made medical supplies.
The Buy American order comes on the heels of concerns expressed by senators during their Tuesday meeting with President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill.

The order would prevent federal agencies from purchasing medical supplies, including face masks, gloves and ventilators, from China.

China has prevented the export of surgical face masks, severely limiting supplies in the U.S. and countries around the world.
China has managed to dominate all aspects of the supply chain using the same unfair trade practices that it has used to dominate other sectors cheap sweatshop labor, lax environmental regulations and massive government subsidies, Navarro told New York Times. As President Trump has said, what we need to do is bring those jobs home so that we can protect the public health and the economic and national security of the country.
He added that the EO would cover more than 400 essential medicines that satisfy the priority health care needs of the population. Additional products targeted in the order include medical countermeasures made to protect against chemical and biological threats, radiation, nuclear fallout and infectious diseases like coronavirus.
Nothing we do now will impede in any way our ability to get what we need when we need it from foreign sources, he told CBS.

I cannot blame China for not sending equipment that they needed.
Any country would do the same.
But this is a great wake up for distributed manufacturing and bringing key manufacturing back to the US.
Yes costs will rise, but we either pay for higher manufacturing costs or we pay as we do now, for lower manufacturing costs and high social services taxes on an idle population.
we pay, one way or another
Now is the time to reform the legal system, which has also driving manufacturing offshore. These large lawsuits driven by leftist lawyers are killing innovation and risk in this country.
Beat it KooK, and take you globalist, neocon nonsense with you.
I assure you, I don’t care one bit about the Chicoms.

WTH are you talking about???
Of course you do.
All Patriots do.
I agree, but then I don't have several job offers and a bonus that's based on how many pennies per dollar I save this year.
Price is around $1.00 a bulb which is higher but then again hamburger is about $4.00 a pound too. I admit I have had some of these bulbs fail quite rapidly but overall I am quite happy with them.
There are a lot of rural areas with populations that would be quite happy to fill these jobs. Ditto with the inner city.
The low flow toilets are inferior. I have both in my house, and old and a newer one. LED lights are less expensive, but the quality of the light is atrocious. I purchased 12 for my dining chandelier, sent them back the next day. They are white white, the incandescents have a warm yellow glow like the sun. They work great for a closet or a hallway, but not for bedrooms, living rooms, dining room, kitchen or bath. They work great outside though, and in the garage.
Ironic isn’t it?
B$, you just want to argue. You are untruthful on both points, or just suffering from new stuff syndrome.
