President Donald Trump endorsed former Auburn Football coach Tommy Tuberville over his former attorney general, Jeff Sessions, in a tight Alabama Senate primary runoff this month.
The president cited Tubervilles football prowess in his backing Tuesday over Sessions, who served in the Senate for 20 years between 1997 and 2017 before Trumps administration.
Tommy was a terrific head football coach at Auburn University. He is a REAL LEADER who will never let MAGA/KAG, or our Country, down! Tommy will protect your Second Amendment, Trump tweeted.
He will be a great Senator for the people of Alabama. Coach Tommy Tuberville, a winner, has my Complete and Total Endorsement. I love Alabama.
The endorsement is expected to be a blow to Sessions as the two candidates have each raced to pitch themselves as most aligned with the president.

My thinking exactly. Shelby switched after the great Republican take-over in '93. Up until then he was a loyal, card-toting RAT. He checks to see which way the wind is blowing and then jumps in front.
I do have some reservations about Tubbs, but he is the best one on the market. I wish I knew more about his last season at Auburn. He just sort of quit. He went through the motions but the "umph" wasn't there. I don't want that to happen with my Senator.

Tuberville’s adds were appallingly insipid, insulting and idolatrous.
LOL!!
Jeff Sessions was probably the most honest man to ever represent my state. He served very well as Senator for many, many years. I wish he had remained Senator...it makes me sad to see you and others dishonor his name and service.
“...Sessions naive and unprepared...”
After all those years in DC ... I don’t believe it.
Sessions should have done the honorable thing and resigned, instead of recusing himself. Also, I do not recall anything mentioned by the media that the Mueller report found evidence of Sessions working with the Russians as part of the 2016 Trump campaign. Hence, his recusal damaged not only Trump, but the Presidency. Thanks Jeff ... distinguished political career tarnished forever.
“QAnon”
Another death blow? More like another kick into the dead horse.
“... then endorsing him just so he can always be on the winning side.”
Looks like the previously non-politician Trump has learned some time tested political tactics. Why bet on a losing horse when you will need the vote of the winner down the road? The ground polls must show that Jeff is not going to win this one.
Sessions was a great Senator but something happened to him at DOJ
Consider this - President Trump fired him pretty much after the last poll closed on election night, 2018.
Maybe earlier.
The reason - Trump expected Sessions and Rosenstein to do some really damaging things to stab him in the back after the Democrats took over. Trump did not want to give Sessions even the slightest window to do so
We went against Trump last time around and gave the seat away - I’m gonna make a small donation to Tuberville
So much for trust sessions
Excuses just do not work for Sessions.
1. Sessions was not even close to being as conflicted as Rosenstein, who was put in charge of the fraudulent framing of an innocent POTUS. This is highly suspect, period.
2. As we have seen with other “withdrawn” appointments, the appointment of Sessions could have been withdrawn up to the last minute, and if Sessions was so principled, he could have, and should have, gone to the POTUS, or withdrawn himself from the appointment. He did neither. Early on, there were two ways he actually could have been put back in his original roll as Alabama Senator. Hmmmm...
3. Even if he somehow was not the “trojan”, “gatekeeper”, “sleeper”, or “insurance policy”, Sessions could have taken a cursory look at the origins and validity of the false charges, before determining his own recusal. His recusal was instant. To any reasonable person, this is highly suspect in itself!
4. After the realization of how nefarious, out of control, and “conflicted” literally everyone was, literally all involved having worked hard to cover for the Obama and HRC illegalities, Sessions could have fallen on his sword, publically called it all out, and said this weong, illegal, and over. Sure, the left would have hated him forever, but it would have been the right thing.
True high crimes, some of the worst seditious and treasonous crimes ever committed against our Constitution and country have taken place, all in an effort to carry out a real coup d’etat, the consequences liberty still really may survive, and I am supposed to be focused on feeling bad for the guy who at multiple points let it all happen, and facilitated it!
I don’t think so...
In his position, I personally would have given my life to keep this decisively deadly attack from being carried out against Amwrica and the liberty of my children and family.
Like a rented mule.
I’ve been reading the Lee Smith book, The Plot Against the President, and the first mistake Trump made, his very first mistake, was firing Mike Flynn.
Trump thought that by firing Flynn that would end the Russian conspiracy charges.
It only encouraged the jackals of the Deep State to rev up the coup. Flynn knew where the Obama bodies were in the intelligence services. He was all for rooting them out and clearing the dead weight. Obama wanted Flynn out and unfortunately, Trump obliged.
Sessions chose Rosenstein for that position which is the reason he was hired.
How did rosenstein get the power to appoint mulehead?
You should stop trying to cover up for weak sister sessions.
Jeff Sessions was a Trump ally during the election season, but when appointed as AG, he folded and threw Trump to the wolves.
He was a pussy, traitor, senator and I piss on his political grave.
Bad idea. Now the Democrats will throw everything behind Sessions.
Jeff Sessions dishonored himself, we had nothing to do with his traitorous actions.
He had a duty to tell Trump before he recused himself, the first day on the job.
How well he served as a senator is a matter of opinion and I have no opinion because I didn't follow him that closely, but he was a traitor to President Trump.
If Sessions had an ounce of civility, pride, or integrity
he would quit. As it is, I hope he is creamed.
Worthless, piece of filth
