I got flu from just talking on phone with someone who had flu. But that just shows the fallacy of jumping to conclusions. But because the only known flu sufferer I had contact with was on the phone, I made the false conclusion.

Same exact thing when you assume the virus was caught by riding in a bus. May be it was already incubating for upto 14 days from somewhere else.

I am starting to believe smokingJoe’s point that warm & humid places will kill the virus. Look at India, it has a population 10 times bigger than Iran and 20 times bigger than Italy. And Indians are traveling everywhere around the world on business and jobs. But India has 1/100th infections compared to Italy. India is already hot climate. Virus has no chance.

What’s really driving my anxiety is that all the stuff I have read about this since the beginning is turning out to be true, because it’s jiving with real world events, like the closing down of Italy.

A while back, when I read that China was wielding people inside their own houses, I didn’t believe it. Now I do.

Here's the thing: IF China's numbers are accurate it's only because they took extreme measures to contain the virus. They have basically shut down their entire country for the last 2 months (and counting). They allowed those with the virus to either live or die with basically no treatment. They instituted mass quarantines and disinfected public areas on a massive scale.

Using China as an example of the virus burning out isn't a good indicator.

I hope so...but that pattern generally holds true for the flu because school lets out in the late spring and starts again in the fall. In other words we concentrate our children together and they infect each other and bring the infection home. By the time school lets out the flu has run through a large part of population. But it's still out there getting people sick all year.

Unfortunately this particular corona virus is much more virulent than the normal flu. It's much easier to catch and spread.

They never shut down the entire country. They took tough measures in Wuhan where most of the infections were. Wuhan accounts for less than 2% of the Chinese population.
