Im trying to visualize the mall, but I think I have another in mind thats nearby in Easton. BonTon also shuttered its doors. Not surprised though. These retail models showed signs of decline at least a decade ago.
Many of them are popular chains, too,
Dumbest line in the world. If they were popular they would not be closing.
The difference in gas prices is that in PA has the second highest gas tax in the US. It supposedly pays for our roads, but you certainly can’t tell. I was only poking fun at the progressives in your state, obviously not at you. I didn’t realize that people from PA went to NJ to buy gas. That would be a two hour drive for me.
You can’t live and support a family in New Jersey on $15 an hour.
“I buy locally to support employees from my area. Most will price match and I have same day delivery”
I like that idea, but I can’t come close to finding locally the variety of goods available on Amazon (and I live in a large city) .
We live on the Delaware River in a small town in Warren county with a free bridge into Pa. We have 2 stations that thrive because of the Pa. business. Until last year when we got a 25 cent state tax increase on gas we were 50 cents cheaper. I don’t mind you poking fun at us. This state deserves all of the criticism it receives.
With a three and a half percent unemployment rate, get a job!
The silver lining is that 1,200 people have been incentivized to get out of New Jersey. Could be the best thing that ever happened for them.
Vote With Your Feet, or wheels if necessary.
You’re not supposed to support a family on $15 an hour, nor can you successfully operate a retail business. There are LOTS of jobs filled by people who don’t support families, and which don’t justify $15 an hour.
Meanwhile, sanctuary state NJ has filled the state with millions of illegals who will support their families in Central America by working for far less than $15.
The whole plan is to drive out American families and successful people so that Democrats can rule a poor underclass forever.
Imagine you’re a poor minority in one of NJ’S inner cities. Maybe you’d like to turn an abandoned building into a small business and employ a neighborhood kid. Impossible to do at $15 an hour.
Good point - I imagine most ex-retail employees can find employment in another area.
Yes, taxes, regulations and an absurdly artificial minimum wage.
NJ is doubling the minimum wage. That’s a tsunami which will drown small businesses.
I shop fresh produce and dried fruits and chocolates at nearby Aldi. I like to see what I am buying and it is cheaper than Amazon items, usually. I have too many items and stuff at home already which is rarely used. So staying away from Amazon. Besides I am not a fan of Bezos.
FedEx quit carrying Amazon stuff.
I admit I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon, but it’s usually odd stuff that I’d have to drive to the next town and shop around for. I rarely buy clothing on line, but then, I like to buy expensive brands at thrift stores. I buy a few staples on line from Wal-Mart, but that doesn’t effect their bottom line, except they pay the postage.
Please dont come to Texas
All we have are heat, tornadoes and rattlesnakes!
Don’t forget the fire ants and red-headed centipedes!
The stores in South Jersey that I recognize haven’t been doing well for a while now.
The increase in minimum wage might’ve pushed them over the edge.
PA gas taxes subsidize SEPTA (the Philly area mass transit system) and the Pennsylvania State Police.
So do the Turnpike tolls.
That is why the trucking industry has several lawsuits active against the Commonwealth.
Not a problem. Just raise taxes.
