The first case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Minnesota.
Health officials confirmed the case Friday afternoon. Earlier in the day, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) had said the first 36 cases tested in the state had come back negative.
Gov. Tim Walz and MDH Commissioner Jan Malcolm are scheduled to hold a press conference at 4 p.m. Friday to provide additional information.
MDH said the presumptive case involves an older resident of Ramsey County who recently traveled on a cruise ship with a known COVID-19 case. The patient first started developing symptoms on Feb. 25 but first sought health care Thursday.
Samples were collected from the patient and sent to the MDH Public Health Lab for testing earlier Friday where results came back positive. MDH said it's still awaiting confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to MDH, the patient has been isolated at home and is recovering, and the department is working with St. Paul-Ramsey County Public Health to provide support to the patient. MDH is also working to identify and contact all people the patient had come in contact with, and they will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Matter of time for what?
Minnesota has cold winters. They’ll figure it out.
I’m waiting for the disaster that will strike when someone in a homeless encampment gets it in SF, LA, Austin, or some other concentrated area. The authorities are either going to have to give up on any pretense of confinement, or take Chinese-level military perimeter confinement measures.
No worries.....It’s Just the Flu!!

Comment: Is Minnesomalia still a state in the Union?
Maybe we should drink all the alcohol in our houses right now?
Why do recovery rates in the US seem so much higher than in every other country?
Our medical care?
I know we took a hit at that facility with those elderly folks.
But overall a LOT of people have gotten better and moved on
“Maybe we should drink all the alcohol in our houses right now?”
I have no problem with that. But what will you do tomorrow night?

First sensible thing I’ve read in a while!!
I would like to see a copy of the ‘self-quarantine’ list given to these people.
How many people know that the 14 days include NOT going to the grocery store... NOT leaving mail to be picked up by the mailman... Not having anyone in the home as guests?
Tulsa, Oklahoma too.
Oh my God! Im gonna die! Quick, I need some Alka Seltzer, a mask, non-latex gloves, a Hazmat suit, vegan meals and an oxygen tank!

Ramsey County includes St.Paul. Feb 25 to yesterday? That’s a long time, wonder if it was spent all that time in Minnesota after the trip.
Exactly. So we are going to have screaming headline every time there is new case?
Hey, I can bring over a 24 pack of Corona.
Oh no. The flu. Quick, buy TP and hand sanitizer.
And a plane ticket.
“Thats a long time, wonder if it was spent all that time in Minnesota after the trip.”
Agreed. I’m gonna be curious seeing if and how this virus spreads out from her.
For states to join the MeToo for Coronavirus and get on the gravy train for Fed Funds
