Trump Says He Has a 'Hunch' WHO Death Rate for Coronavirus Is Wrong

All he’s saying is he suspects there are a lot of undiagnosed cases of Coronavirus in the world. LOTS of other people have said the same thing. There were not enough test kits. The medical system in China was overwhelmed such that they were turning people away from hospitals, etc.

So if there are a lot more cases than those diagnosed so far.....then the death rate must MUST be lower than the officially reported rate. There’s nothing extreme/radical about what he said. Most people think the same.

He has said things like this before - and turned out to be right.

Even the yearly flu virus updates are ESTIMATED ranges because they cannot possibly know how many people were infected but did not show signs, did not go to a doctor, were not tested, etc, BUT were infected none-the-less. You have to have an accurate number of infected to compare to known deaths. Add to that, many flu deaths are misdiagnosed or cause of death is from pneumonia brought on by the flu.

Statistical nonsense on COVID-19.

No death rate number should be mentioned as there is not sufficient data to make that determination.

That remains to be seen.

This isn’t a hollywood script virus that kills in a few days.

From infection to disease resolution can be over a month.

Yet many expert mathematicians and renowned health experts on this board will argue that fact.

A pure statement of fact. The mortality rate almost always goes down for a novel pathogen as it spreads throughout available hosts. Initial cases are first identified and get attention because the most severe cases are the initial ones seen in the early discovery phases.

It is wrong. The death rate is being determined by confirmed cases vs. confirmed deaths. There have likely thousands of unconfirmed cases.

Everything Trump said is completely true and reasonable. Everything thing the media stooges reported and fabricated is typical stooge BS.

I am waiting for the firestorm to breakout over the fact that China hid the outbreak for about six weeks and allowed travelers from the stricken province to spread it all over the world.

Yes. I don't think President Trump says things casually. He gets the facts. He's ahead of the game. He may not be in a position to spell it all out at this stage, but he knows how this is going to go and therefore he says in public that he "has a hunch".

The Communist Chinese can't give a reliable figure. They are too busy collecting and burning corpses 24x7 to do proper autopsies to definitively identify the cause of death. They ran out of hospital beds and test kits very early. A proxy for the proper tests became a CT scan of the chest with a finding of "ground glass" opacity of the alveolar areas. Even that was too time consuming. There are still people welded into their homes. They aren't getting food deliveries, so even if they don't die from the virus, they may die from starvation.

The numbers to watch will come from South Korea.

South Korea:

40 Deaths, 135 Recovered=175 resolved cases

(40 deaths/175 resolved cases)*100=22.8%

That's the point many are missing, even on FR. The virus can present as a cold or flu, illnesses for which a lot of people simply stay at home. No doctor visit, no Rx, etc.

It's impossible to derive a statistic under our current circumstances.

We'd also need to know how far the affected have traveled, race, ethnicity, gender, personal habits, etc. That's what I'd want to know before I would panic.
