A firestorm has erupted over remarks about the coronavirus made by Donald Trump last night on "Hannity." He claims he has a "hunch" that the official death rate of 3.4 percent released by the WHO earlier this week is "false."
As usual, much of the coverage exaggerates the stupidity of Trump's remarks. The president's off-the-cuff thoughts about the coronavirus have been twisted to be shown in the worst possible light.
What's new?
In fact, Trump should keep his mouth shut and let others brief the public about the disease. His mixed-up facts, inexact statements, and ignorance could cause confusion -- exactly what isn't needed at this point in what is clearly an epidemic.
"Well, I think the 3.4 percent is really a false number. Now, and this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this. Because a lot people will have this and it's very mild. They'll get better very rapidly. They don't even see a doctor. They don't even call a doctor," Trump said.
"You never hear about those people. So you can't put them down in the category of the overall population in terms of this corona flu and — or virus. So you just can't do that," he continued. "So if, you know, we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better, just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work but they get better."

He said the rate would go down when more tests are performed. And that it will. He is stating a fact...The early tests were done on people that were already symptomatic, so naturally the older, less healthy would be more susceptible. As the tests are available to healthier folks, the rate WILL GO DOWN...
So, Trump’s remarks are stupid?

Calculating death rates is a useless exercise unless you also have the denominator figure of total numbers of cases. Not nearly enough tests have been performed to give a clear picture of that.
I get it. And I was a “C” math student.
Apparently the WHO and most people failed totally.
nobody except possibly the communist Chinese government knows how many have caught it, how many have died.
so, its reasonable for PDJT to question (and that’s all he’s done) a single “outlier” report of 3% fatalities when
all previous published reports say its 2.2% or less.
secondly, we will likely never know which number it is/was
since we will never know how many people have caught the virus and recovered just like they had the “normal” kinds of flu or bad colds. Most of them don’t know they ever had this new virus, so certainly the governments don’t and will never know
there could be , likely are, many millions of folks in communist China and around the world who have had this virus and are now recovered and just fine. everyone catches colds and flu...and think little of it once they are well again

TRump is correct. Who is obviously and deliberately wrong in their claim of 3.4% death rate. In fact itmis simply NOT POSSIBLE to know the death rate until the virus has all but stopped it’s spread. The WHO is deliberately misstating the death rate by using only known cases and then using those who die to arrive at this number.
But there are literally 10’s or 100’s of thousands who may contract the disease and never be included in the statistics because they get over it on their own, never seeing a doctor or visiting a Hospital.

Yes. Dr. Fauci, on Lou Dobbs last night, made the same point. It's all about an accurate/realistic denominator.

BINGO! The larger the universe tested..., the smaller the fatality percentage will be. Simple math (a skill woefully lacking even among those "Highly Educated"!)
Those of us that actually understood the concept of ratios, proportions, fractions, and percentages have been saying that for weeks.

And that will also likely go down with more testing.
I agree with President Trump. He surrounds himself with the most intelligent people unlike many of the Romney fan pundits like the author. I’m frankly sick and tired of so many people with their heads in the sand thinking that this thing just somehow organically started or accidentally released. Oh yes Alice in Wonderland. No people the timing is too coincidental and yes the Chinese are willing to lose that many of their people and probably those globalist who are the elites have no problem killing off much of Iran also as they would probably have an easier time controlling the world that way. Throw rocks all you want ... I can take it.
He’s right and they aren’t simply wrong they are purposely meant to cultivate panic and hysteria. The WHO is infested with globalist leftists.
I have to assume that everyone who contracts this virus ends up in the hospital and that no one gets it, recovers at home, and moves on. If that assumption is not correct then nobody has a clue as to how how many cases there really are.
