Marilyn Hartman, the woman known as the “serial stowaway,” was beaten up inside the Cook County Jail this week, sources said.
Sources told CBS 2’s Brad Edwards that Hartman was assaulted on Tuesday. The offending inmate had some kind of episode – possibly a mental health issue, sources said.
The inmate repeatedly struck Hartman and another inmate’s head against a number of hard surfaces.
The Cook County Sheriff’s office Hartman and the other detainee were evaluated by Cermak Hospital medical staff and no injuries were found.
Hartman was arrested for the eighth time this past fall for violating her probation.

This woman has snuck past TSA and gate agents about a dozen times. Ignores judges directions with aplomb.
I agree, she should not be in prison.
What's going on with the prison medical staff? I bump into a wall and get a bruise.
Put a tracker on her leg for two years, and tell her that airports are forbidden territory.
She should be hired by the TSA as a security specialist!.............
Hmmmm....so, SHE’S the reason grandma’s get the thrice over, at airports, by TSA.

Some time ago, I was on a project at an oil refinery in Texas that had me spending lots of overnights out of town. I crossed paths several evenings with a guy working for one of the petrochem companies over a beer at the bar and we compared notes on what kinds of work we did. Turned out he was in town to hack into the local facility's computer networks. The corporation used him for in-house hacking all over the world to test local security firewalls, procedures and the IT department in general. He got into hacking as a high school nerd that got caught and tangled with the law. One of the companies he messed with was impressed and made him an offer that he took up. After high school they gave him a full ride scholarship to the University of Kansas for a computer science degree plus summer internships. After graduation, he was hired in as a really good security specialist.
