U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that it's not the right time to put additional travel restrictions on South Korea over the coronavirus.
Trump was asked at a White House press briefing whether he is considering restricting travel to and from South Korea, Italy and other countries affected by COVID-19.
"At a right time we may do it," the president said. "Right now it's not the right time, but at a right time."
South Korea has seen a rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases, with nearly 1,200 infections and 12 deaths as of Wednesday.
The U.S. State Department raised its travel advisory for South Korea from Level 1 to Level 2 on Saturday, urging travelers to exercise increased caution.
Two days later, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued its highest travel health notice for the country, recommending that Americans avoid all nonessential travel there.
Then on Wednesday the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command announced it is restricting all nonessential travel to South Korea by all military, civilians and contractors under its authority.

Maybe he means it is too late?
Yep, and we can thank Trump for virtually every out-break in the US other than California/Washington due to his not restricting flights from Italy. He should have stopped them weeks ago and anyone who demanded come in go into a 12 day quarantine.
Very disappointing
Their going to put us on restriction soon enough.
21 day Quarantine
They’re*.
Stupid brain.
Policy:Commerce > Policy:PublicSafety
Maybe he means he’s being duped by the CDC.
This virus is in the wild. Nothing anyone can do now to stop it. Slow it perhaps, but not stop it.
You are wrong
Spring will stop it
And 12 days isn’t enough.
Oh, sorry, I see your “21” now.
Lives are being lost because the USA is paralyzed by political correctness, affirmative action and financial interference with the media.
Nope, spring/summer will have little effect. IT’s spreading in warm areas now, over 80 degrees and it’s just too highly contagious to be stopped. Mass isolation for even two weeks would do wonders and we should do it now, nationally.
Ya, wish you could edit posts. Anyway, at this point I can no longer defend Trump’s response. Not stopping flights from Italy was a fatal mistake, and even now he’s reluctant. I am glad he was elected but he didn’t have what it takes to hardline this thing and protect the nation. Flights should have been cancelled without regard for petty inconveniences.
Warm and dry might be ok for spread. Also it can be cooler indoors with AC. The cutoff for most viruses is 70 degrees (or less) and 50% (or less) humidity. Spring and summer here in the US will stop the outdoor spread.
What does "increased caution" look like on an international flight or any flight that lasts for > n hours? Not sharing breathed air with fellow travelers?
There must be a prudent risk calculation that is then compared to the rate of economic damage.
I agree. Nature will slow it way down as air gets warmer and drier, but it is likely to return next fall. Which is to say, COVID-19 will behave much like every virus we’ve dealt with since the beginning of time.
I’m with you. This could well turn into Trump’s Katrina/Iranian hostage crisis and Steve Bannon’s ‘fourth turning’ all at once.
I don’t see the emergency industrial turnaround we need to get more than just enough masks for health workers cranked out, but hospital rooms, respirator hospital equipment, etc., etc.
And with two months’ notice now we likely couldn’t have stopped it from eventually getting here, but we sure could have stopped its spread by a critical month or two, which could potentially have saved many lives.
He’s gotta stop saying how much better he’s doing than Obama or anyone else on it and actually do well on it!
The rhetoric and posture and actions at this point are borderline appalling—and I’m a huge Trump supporter!
It may not need outdoor spread.
