Federal investigators discovered a loaded gun in the Manhattan jail where financier Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide last year.
Investigators with the Bureau of Prisons began searching the facility last week after receiving information that a loaded gun had been smuggled inside the jail, a serious violation of security, according to the Associated Press. The bureau has faced significant pressure to improve its security practices after Epstein, who was facing charges of rape and sex trafficking, was found dead in his cell on Aug. 10.
Attorney General William Barr named a new Bureau of Prisons director last week: Michael Carvajal, a nearly 30-year veteran of the agency. Carvajal replaced Hugh Hurwitz, who Barr removed in August during the fallout over Epstein’s suicide.
Bureau investigators found the gun and other contraband items during a lockdown at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. Officials are expected to continue the lockdown and search for more items in violation of security protocols.

Find the person who had the gun smuggled in and see if they’ll talk, since they didn’t get to claim it... unless of course they got hush money instead, which is very likely.
Still, follow the money. The bank accounts of everyone working and serving time in that jail, along with their relatives, need to have their financial histories examined.
I'm glad we have the AP to tell us that a loaded gun in the hands of a prisoner is a serious violation of security.

The information was received last week, but the article fails to say when the gun was actually brought into the prison.
How long had the gun been in the facility?
Was it present in the facility when Epstein didn't kill himself? /sarcasm

Having worked for the Georgia Dept of Corrections (now Prisons) for some years, I know this happens quite a lot. You offer someone enough money, they will make it happen.

It is exactly like that and no one is going to investigate it any farther. At least no one that can actually bring charges will do anything. Barr said he personally viewed the tapes(you know the one they said didn't exist) that showed no one entered his cell, it was a suicide.
Strangely we still have many Freepers that expect Barr to meet out justice. I expect no more than Snarlin Arlen gave us on the Waco massacre. Some here even expect Linda to produce something other than a whitewash to protect his butt buddy McCain's phony good reputation.
