I should look on a map, but I don’t recall a lot of government land they control on the East Coast. Nevada, on the other hand, is practically all government land. Put them all outside of Las Vegas, about 100 miles NW. They can exercise their great brains there.

As a corporate brat and spouse, you go where the boss tells you to go if you want a job. Moving sucks, but it has kept a roof over our heads. Finally retired after living in 12 states. And Virginia was a 3 time repeat.
The non-movers are true swamp dwellers.

But what are the 10,000 employees that don’t work in DC doing and where are they doing it? “The BLM move would uproot nearly all of the agency’s dwindling Washington staff out West, leaving just 61 of 10,000 employees in the nation’s capital.”
And it seems only 169 positions out of 240 are being moved from DC. Oh, woe are them.
There should be no need to hire more people. Why would it take more than 80 people to run the BLM? What the heck do these (previously Washington DC bureaucrats) do all day?
What a brilliant way to cut the size of the agency.
Lets move more agencies outside Washington.

With 80 gone, the 60 who transfered will have to increase their workload to a blistering 60-to-70 minutes a day...
Porn advertising will suffer... Assorted little private companies being operated out of federal properties will suffer...

Hell yes, the ones who were willing to move are probably all of the ones you want involved in western lands, or at least they’re willing to work.
Now they just need to start this kind of policy for every agency, you do stints all over the place. You meet, greet and live with the people you SERVE.

The writer presumes there is no one with a brain out in the Western states-only “brains” exist in DC or East Coast area to do the job that entails western lands, occupied by non-career government employees.
Hopefully, out West of DC doesn’t stretch further than Pennsylvania.

Now that we know how to get rid of 50% of the government sluggards, the relocation strategy needs to be implemented throughout the Washington DC bureaucracy.
Good, hire some folks who have more than a city perspective.
We should start to relocate all the federal agencies. Why not build the new FBI headquarters in Peoria, Illinous?
