Federal prosecutors have charged former United Auto Workers President Gary Jones with conspiracy to embezzle union funds, making him the highest-ranking ex-union official to be ensnared in the Justice Departments yearslong corruption probe.
Mr. Jones, who led the UAW through contract negotiations late last year with the Detroit car makers and a 40-day strike at General Motors Co., is alleged to have been a part of a group of senior UAW leaders who embezzled more than $1 million to pay for private villas, liquor, golf and other luxuries, according to charging documents filed with a Michigan federal court and made public Thursday.

For many labor organizers, Obama failure to pass card check bill is a black mark for Biden.
I thought that was part of a union boss’s job description.
If this guy had just become a member of congress all that would be legal. Even encouraged.
Leeches on the company and leeches on the workers.
Pelosi did the same thing, but with taxpayer funds and that was OK.
“I thought that was part of a union bosss job description.”
LOL, agreed.
Butt, butt, butt..............corruption within a union? WHAT! In the few instances I was involved with unions, it was typical of socialism where there were the kings and queens and then the drones that paid their dues.
Feh, Entertainment expenses.
I lived in Michigan. Knew many UAW members, including my father-in-law. They were all complete lemmings. Swallowed whatever line of B.S. the union newsletter handed to them. This guy practically had a blank check.
I am sure people buying UAW-built cars enjoy paying for union bigwigs to party hardy. Everyone likes a party, right?
I grew up in a strong union, Democrat family.
The unions and the Democrats had to work really hard to get me to despise them, but I do despise them.
I am soooo shocked!.................
When I was working retail in Connecticut, I had to pay union dues and the local president lived in a house that was about 650k (this was in 1989). The house was bigger than the department store I worked at. The union president didn’t care about the employees that he was supposed to be supporting.
What good is it to be a union president if not to embezzle a little. Judging from history, isn’t that the primary role of a UAW, UTW and AFL CIO president as well as a host of municipal union heads?
