The Trump campaign is investing more money and resources in an attempt to attract African-American voters than any Republican presidential campaign in recent memory.

The drive includes highly visible television advertising, including an $11 million Super Bowl commercial, along with ad purchases in local black newspapers and on radio stations; “Black Voices for Trump”; storefronts in key battleground states; and a sustained social media campaign directed at black voters whose consumer, religious and demographic profiles suggest potential support, including on such issues as immigration, abortion, gender roles and gay rights.

For Trump, the effort became all the more crucial as the Super Tuesday primaries demonstrated Joe Biden’s strong appeal to black voters. Exit polls showed Biden winning 57 percent of the votes cast by African-Americans on Tuesday, 40 points higher than his closest competitor, Bernie Sanders, at 17 percent.

Adrianne Shropshire, executive director of the pro-Democratic BlackPAC and the affiliated nonpartisan Black Progressive Action Coalition, wrote in an email that Trump has already communicated with a large segment of the African-American electorate, although she disputes the effectiveness of Trump’s bid to win black support:

Depends on where it is. If he over-performs in Red states and underperforms in Blue states then it's meaningless. Trump could get 100% of the black vote in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas and it won't make a difference in the election.

Unspoken in this article is its hidden premise: Blacks have a right to vote their race but whites do not.

It is impermissible to attempt to "suppress" the black vote. But it is perfectly in order to accuse whites, especially white Republicans as this article notes, of racism and even of being "segregationists."

It is perfectly legal to pay black ministers "walking around money" but it is not okay to point it out.

It is lawful under the tax code to conduct political meetings in black churches but not in white churches.

It is politically correct to advance African-American solidarity but it is repugnant to advance white solidarity.

It is permissible to cancel out legitimate voters with illegitimate voters but it is impermissible to cleanse voter rolls of illegitimate voters.

It is evidently kosher to demagogue Trump's comments about Charlottesville in an effort to encourage Democrat voting by fueling race hatred, but it is apparently illegitimate to point out the actual state of public mismanagement in Baltimore.

Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, etc. If President Trump can win a decent level of black support, and if voter fraud is reduced, then the election results will be magnificent.

One thing the President needs to go viral with is his recent selection of a black General to be the Secretary of the Air Force and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. That, I believe, is the first time a black person has been appointed to a position that high in the U.S. Military.
