Four years ago, candidate Donald Trumps pitch to African Americans heading to voting booths was simple: What do you have to lose? While he captured just 8 percent of the black vote in 2016, recent polls suggest things could be different this time around.
In November, an Emerson poll reported a 34.5 percent approval rating among black voters, and a January Gallup poll reported a 14 percent increase in satisfaction over race relations among Americans. Weve had this wild surge of new testimonials coming in the past few weeks, largely in the black community, said Brandon Straka, founder of #WalkAway, a social media campaign for disenchanted Democrats leaving the party. They feel taken for granted, manipulated, and lied to by Democrats. Theyre sick of the fearmongering.
Here, five black New Yorkers all former Democrats tell The Post why theyre flipping parties and voting Republican this year. When Trump announced his candidacy, I thought it was a joke, said Kyree Davis, who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. I said, Hopefully, hes not the racist, bigoted ahole he portrays on TV.
At first, I was scared, because of the way he talks, that wed go to war immediately. I was afraid hed run the country as a cold business, said the Staten Islander, who works in high-end retail sales. But those fears were not realized.
He started to support Trump after the presidents first year in office, mainly due to immigration policies. Its why I got behind him. Its one of the biggest issues facing America today. And I noticed the tax cut. We all got more money in our paychecks its not just for the rich,

That is very encouraging. Those five people can think for themselves and have left the Democrat Plantation for good reason.
Thanks for posting.
said the Staten Islander..
The NORTH SHORE, i’m certain.
It’s dark over there even during the day.
Ah, what fond memories of driving the livery and driving around crack whores and drug dealers and even helping ladies with groceries into the projects and smiling as I passed urine and needles and other assorted items.
They were once all Italian and Irish neighborhoods.
And they were beautiful.
Now we’re on the south shore.
And NOBODY is building a project on this side.
There have been numerous polls over the last 6 months showing the president’s support in the black community from the mid 20’s to as high as the mid 30’s. If he merely doubles black American votes from 8% to 16% he will be impossible to beat.
BTW, his polling among Latino’s is reported to be as high with that group of Americans as well. His numbers with Asians have also improved according to polls though for some reason not as dramatic an increase as with the other two groups of Americans. This might be that the Asian population in this country is concentrated in very Liberal cities. Their presence outside those cities is still pretty sparse.
But, it all points to another 4 years for President Trump.
Blacks are very anti-immigration. But the GOP is sort of anti-racial quota. So it’s a balancing act. If the GOP went whole hog for racial quotas, more blacks might get on the bandwagon. Problem is white voters might bolt. Also, the Dems might up the ante with reparations. Of course, reparations might get white Dems to leave the party.
To demonstrate their reverence for Big Government as a replacement for the American Founding Principles of God-Given Rights, the 2012 Democratic Platform was intentionally scrubbed of all mention of the word God. VIDEO LINK
They did not have the 2/3 needed to alter the wording in their platform but pushed it through anyway.
We cant be afraid. In a Cincinnati church basement, black women take a class together: learning how to fire guns

“Black New Yorkers”
I don’t think we should be talking about this.
Very good points.
I have a conservative black friend in Denver and we keep in touch. He told me that some blacks who he knows will vote for Trump and simply keep quiet about it.
“Now were on the south shore.”
Are you by the bay that looks over at Perth Amboy? Awesome Portuguese food and is right by the marina.
it’s 10 minutes away.
Please tell more.
Which marina and where’s the great Portuguese food?
Never had that kind of food before.
thanks
Right over the bridge. Try The Armory which is on the water. It’s beautiful over there.
51 years and I’ve gone to belmar and seaside and AC and wildwood a million times through the decade and didn’t even know TEN MINUTES away there was a pier with restaurants.
That’s too funny :)
thanks man
it looks beautiful
The walk along the Perth Amboy waterfront is one of my favorite spots. Every time I come back to Jersey, first thing I do is get an egg roll and then I go to the Armory for dinner. And I do make an effort to hit Nathans and Brighton Beach, the stomping ground of my youth.
It is the SILENT Trump voters that drive the leftists, the media and, the pollsters crazy.
They cannot account for them/us. And, this fact, in my opinion, is a very significant factor, if not THE primary factor for their over the top, unhinged behavior.

Those are excellent points. I agree. Thanks.
We don’t have that problem, IMO..
Wow that’s great man :)
What years were your teens years? Mine were the 80s.
Just wondering what those places were like if it was a different time frame
I was a teen in the 70’s. Used to hit LeMoors and the Factory.
Oh so you’re not REALLY far back.
I knew those places :)
But for me it was The Caves and a few others we quidos hit on Staten island and bay ridge :)
