It is timely to look more closely at Senator Bernie Sanders. He is 78, was born and raised in Brooklyn in a Jewish family; his antecedents on both sides came from Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now part of Poland). His father emigrated to New York in 1921 some years after Sanders’s mother’s family.
An older brother, Larry, lives in England and was a Green Party city councilor in Oxford (he and I were opponents in a debate in 2016 in London about the U.S. election, and he was amiable and soft-spoken — none of Bernie’s arm-waving and shouting). Mr. Sanders was a capable athlete in his early years but an indifferent student.

If the Dems thought that letting Bernie and Co get thumped by Trump would get rid of them once and for all they might take the chance. Lefties have a history of not taking no for an answer though so they may be unwilling to give them an opportunity.

Bernie will cause the House to flip in substantial numbers and hurt the Democrat party for years.
That's $5T/yr. Last year's mega-budget spent "only" $4.5T. He wants to more than double the budget overnight. (And that's without recognizing that virtually all government budget estimates for new programs are woefully short by the time the project is underway.)
For comparison purposes, the entire continent of South America produces only $3.6T annually. The entire continent of Africa produces $2.6T annually. The entire continent of Australia produces $1.9T annually.
Bernie literally wants to have 536 people in the tiny city of DC to allocate $9.5T of our money, which is more than the entire productivity of 3 entire continents combined. When you add in India ($2.7T), you finally top Bernie's budget, but you also have almost half of the planet working to match it (3.1Bn people total... 1.37Bn in India, 1.32Bn in Africa, 25m in Australia, and 430m in South Africa).
Now go look at a world atlas, and compare the Southern Hemisphere continents to the city of DC.

When I see the word “fatal” used in the same sentence as “Democratic (communist) Party, it makes my heart cheer up just a tad.
