Network cites damage to 'our reputation for fairness and impartiality'

Veteran ABC News correspondent David Wright was suspended Wednesday after he was caught in a Project Veritas undercover sting declaring that he was a socialist and referring to President Trump as “this f**ing president.”

In a statement, an ABC spokesperson also said that Mr. Wright, who has worked for the network since 2000, would no longer cover political stories upon his return.

David Wright is an Emmy® Award-winning ABC News correspondent. Born in Buffalo to Canadian immigrants, Wright graduated magna cum laude from Harvard and earned a master’s degree at Merton College, Oxford. Wright met his wife, former Sky News producer Victoria Brannigan, in Rome when they were both covering the funeral of Pope John Paul II. They were married in a Roman Catholic ceremony at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere on October 29, 2005. He and his wife live in Manhattan with their three daughters.

And if they didn’t suspend him we’d be mad at that too :)

THIS is why he got suspended. They already knew of his political views, in fact, they are a prerequisite for employment.

By “political stories” they probably just mean elections. He’ll still report that “President Trump hasn’t responded well to the coronavirus!” etc. ABC will explain with a straight face that that’s not a political story.

If the network honestly felt that what he said indicated something negative about his character, they wouldn’t want him covering garden parties. They would fire him.
