Virginia Legislature Passes Radical Abortion Bill
Townhall ^ | 2/24/2020

The Commonwealth of Virginia’s state legislature continued its streak of passing radical legislation this afternoon by passing HB980. The legislation echoes the extreme views on abortion shared by Governor Ralph Northam.

“The bill expands who can perform first trimester abortions to include, in addition to physicians, physician's assistants licensed by the Board of Medicine, and nurse practitioners or certified nurse midwives jointly licensed by the Board of Medicine and the Board of Nursing. The bill eliminates all the procedures and processes, including the performance of an ultrasound, required to effect a pregnant person's informed written consent to the performance of an abortion; however, the bill does not change the requirement that a pregnant person's informed written consent first be obtained. The bill removes language classifying facilities that perform five or more first trimester abortions per month as hospitals for the purpose of complying with regulations establishing minimum standards for hospitals,” the Assembly website’s summary of the bill reads.

HB980 is alarmingly radical, and a true step toward zero restrictions on abortion. Most notably, allowing non-physicians to perform abortions and the elimination of the requirement for an ultrasound were written in.

The passage of HB980 was praised by NARAL:

NARAL Pro-Choice VA @NARALVirginia Thank you to the Virginia Senators who voted “YES” on the Reproductive Health Protection Act today! Virginians across our Commonwealth thank you for putting healthcare decisions back in the hands of patients and medical professionals in VA. #HB980 #ReproFreedom4VA

HB980 is a step toward unlimited, unrestricted abortion regardless of trimester.

Dems get control of the legislature for the first time in decades and immediately focus on... abortion, guns, gays, Confederate stuff.

I really loathe this political party.

No one and nothing must stand between the killing of the unborn. Eventually, this logic will be applied to humans from young to old if identified as sources of suffering to the mystical god-State.

Why does this surprise you? Those are the issues the dems are known for and fight for. So, I'm not certain why this gives you pause.

I loathe that political party, too. But elections have consequences. The libs had record turnout on election day last November as a way to get back at Trump. It is their only way to express their hatred of Trump.

It concerns me that when Trump's name is not on the ballot, the republicans do not get out and vote. This was true with Obama and when he wasn't on the ballot, the dems didn't show up. That is why over 1,000 legislative dem seats were lost during his 8 years as president. The republicans showed up to vote in every election to express our displeasure of Obama and now it is happening in reverse while Trump is president. I don't have a solution - I wish I did.

Since my birth, modern technology has granted women multiple advances in virtually foolproof birth control. During the same period, modern technology has demonstrated, indeed illustrated in real time, the heart beating viability of the unborn baby.

I am at a loss to understand why women are so exercised to gain the right to kill and unborn baby under these circumstances. I think Ruth Bader Ginsburg has inadvertently betrayed the real motivation in her dissenting opinion in Gonzales V. Carhart: so that women can enjoy dating and business careers .

This is a base and selfish rationalization to take a life.

Please see my vanity

That’s what DemocRATS do. They vote in more radical abortion, guns and tax increase as they possibly can. Count on it.

It’s a fool’s mission to try to comprehend women, especially post-modern women. There’s a four letter acronym for that.

The problem is twofold.

1. The VA GOP (and other GOP entities) runs and supports poor candidates, especially in the primaries. They often discourage or actually backstab real conservative candidates - see what the VA GOP did to Ken Cuccinelli.

2. Republicans then stay home in the general election - either because they think they don’t need to show up as it’s a ‘safe’ district’, because they don’t like the official candidate or because the candidate ran a poor campaign taking votes for granted and voters are just pissed off enough at that to express their displeasure with him. See: Ted Cruz.

The solution is to purge the party organization of leadership that selects and supports poor candidates, educate party voters as to why the time to express your preference/rid yourself of same-party idiots is at the primary and not the general election and teach candidates that there are no longer *any* safe votes or safe districts (for either party!) and that they have to work for every vote with effective messaging and engagement like they were running for their first term.

Which they will do on a national scale if they win at the federal level any time.

Also, 25 districts were redrawn in early 2019, months before the election.

dems just love abortion. Actually, they don’t love abortion. They love the votes and money they get from radical fangtooth feminazis, and NARAL, their church.

This is payback to them for their support. You let us kill babies so we can show our hatred for the patriarchy, and we’ll send you a lot of money.
