Most cases are not life-threatening, which is also what makes the virus a historic challenge to contain
(big snip)
The Harvard epidemiology professor Marc Lipsitch is exacting in his diction, even for an epidemiologist. Twice in our conversation he started to say something, then paused and said, Actually, let me start again. So its striking when one of the points he wanted to get exactly right was this: I think the likely outcome is that it will ultimately not be containable.
Lipsitch predicts that, within the coming year, some 40 to 70 percent of people around the world will be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. But, he clarifies emphatically, this does not mean that all will have severe illnesses...

I got the swine flu.
I was so damn sick, I thought I was going to die.
I thought I read somewhere that this virus does not last or live very long in warm/hot climates. Maybe it’s a good time to live in Arizona??????
I hope I am wrong and you are right.
I fear not. We have been very lucky since 1918 and if you look throughout human history, there have been pandemic outbreaks roughly every 100 or so years.
I don't want to let normalcy bias cloud my caution.
I heard that second hand smoke kills the virus.
I heard that, too.
I’ve upped my vitamin C to 2000mg per day. I hope that is good enough. I may have to stock up on more vitamins.
The disease is serious, but lets keep fearmongering to a minimum. Fearmongering will affect the stock market, which threatens Trump’s main selling point. Expect liberal publications to cash in on fear.
First - the coronavirus does not survive in sunlight. When it is warmer out, people open windows, they spend less time indoors and schools are closed. There is more sunlight in the summer. Why are there no outbreaks in Africa, despite poor healthcare? Why are there no outbreaks in Australia, a popular vacation spot for Chinese? Its summer there. It’ll be warm in the northern hemisphere soon. The projections made by the very liberal Atlantic magazine assume that all thing will remain the same, which they won’t.
Second - all cases in the United States are controlled. It’ll be warm here before significant uncontrolled cases pop up. The Atlantic headline points out the YOU are going to get the virus. No, YOU won’t...people in Eurasia might. Another bad assumption that this article makes - that the virus is free to spread anywhere.
Oh, no, they say he's got to go
Go go Godzilla
Oh, no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla
History shows again and again how nature points up the folly of man
Godzilla!
Even at 1% people WILL FREAK OUT and run through the streets screaming.
Governments will fall. Economies will stop. There will be wars and revolutions.
News travels at the speed of light. Worldwide.
You say that like it's a bad thing but fear not. Your rulers will maintain order, even if they have to slaughter half the population.
I am in a fourth category—I have no clue _what_ to make of this... ;-)
Some days I wonder if it’s a blessing or a curse. ;)

“In 2016, Cron and Winn Chatham, M.D., professor in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, began a clinical trial at UAB and Childrens Hospital to study the safety of anakinra in patients with signs of severe, potentially life-threatening inflammation. Cron is director of the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at Childrens of Alabama. Anakinra is remarkably safe, and following this initial study, the researchers hope to begin a larger trial in the future.”

Thanks for the links.
Well if youre over 60 or have underlying health conditions, its more like 20%...the first time you get it
Then on the second wave, pretty much everyone joins the 20% club
But wait, make it through that and guys, youre infertile and maybe with other organ damage...
I found these articles on reinfection...
YMMV on how much is true....
Not something that is likely to be reprinted often... and may be out there or spot on... I am not the person to ask.

The article suggests reading this other article...

Again, YMMV but thought I would pass on the links...
I just read that being a democrat gives you an 80% greater risk of getting the china flu. Bernie supporters 93%.
Don’t know if that is true or not but is concerns me.
