Most who’ve died are old men who smoked their whole lives in China.

I hope he’s right. I think he’s wrong.
You sure got that right.
I’d like to see Rush’s data points on this. Not tracking with how reality is playing out.
super post thx
I hope no one is following Rush for his corona-virus wisdom.
I think a lot of this will depend on:
Genes (ace2 issues)
Lungs (smoking)
Health care you obtain once you get sick.
Also, if you are taking Ace inhibitors like blood pressure meds perhaps you are less likely to get it or if you do you are more likely to survive
IF all we have learned so far is true then it is NOT the common cold. The official name is “(SARS-CoV-2)”. SARS is an acronym for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. “CoV” is Coronavirus and 2 is the SECOND time a SARS labeled coronovirus has appeared.
How long did this virus hit the news after Nancy visited China?

Coincidence or is Rush right?
Ditto.
They already have an effective drug in human trails. The company is ramping up production tremendously. The results of the trials could come as early as three weeks.
“There is only one drug right now that we think may have real efficacy and that’s remdesivir,” Bruce Aylward, an assistant director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), said at a press conference in Beijing.
I hope he's right, but I'm preparing in case he isn't.Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
I am pretty sure that 2% of the people who get the kinds of flu we’re used to don’t die. If I understand correctly that 2% is also when advanced medical care is available and without it upwards of 20% can die. Also if I understand correctly you don’t develop immunity from this and can be reinfected.
All that said, absolutely, they want to drive the economy down over it in an attempt to dislodge Trump. So far at least nobody really seeks to be blaming Trump for this.
If it does break out here and his admin is seen to have been dishonest and/or inept in dealing with it, however, it absolutely could develop into his Katrina.
I hope he is getting good info, because with good info he is proactive and on top of things.
Id like to see Rushs data points on this. Not tracking with how reality is playing out.
Those of us who have been following this for weeks in the daily live threads have said it hasn’t been hyped enough....Trump is doing a poor job on this and is behind real time
example:
Why are we still allowing flight form South Korea?!!
Well again it's not who lives and dies. But if this SARS is as bad as the last SARS strain to jump to humans it will be a 10% death rate. But even that isn't the real worry. The real worry would be that there are so many sick that the economy will slow down and make everything harder to get. That's already happened somewhat...China has basically shut down due to the virus and subsequent quarantines.
Now it could be that China is pulling a fast one. There's a virus and it's not that deadly but they did a mass quarantine and shutdown to hurt the economy of the US. That could be.
I just took a look a the Influenza A and B numbers on the CDC Web Page... way more scary than what we’re seeing out of this CoronaVirus which is peaking at a 2% mortality rate, meanwhile, the flu is at 7.9 - 9%
