I had this same debate with Aunt over the Coronovirus, she was a near sky is falling panic about the coming apocalypse and all the precautions she was taking. I just shrugged and said I'm not worried about it and it doesn't even cross my mind, I'll take my chances, 98% survival rate, I'll roll the dice...

I just shrugged and said I'm not worried about it and it doesn't even cross my mind, I'll take my chances, 98% survival rate, I'll roll the dice... Well again it's not who lives and dies. But if this SARS is as bad as the last SARS strain to jump to humans it will be a 10% death rate. But even that isn't the real worry. The real worry would be that there are so many sick that the economy will slow down and make everything harder to get. That's already happened somewhat...China has basically shut down due to the virus and subsequent quarantines.
Now it could be that China is pulling a fast one. There's a virus and it's not that deadly but they did a mass quarantine and shutdown to hurt the economy of the US. That could be.

The
REPORTED number of cases that have run the full course is 27,843.
The REPORTED number of fatalities is 2,468
Based on that metric the effective fatality rate is 9.4%, if you think that all the cases and fatalities have been reported by the Chinese Communists...
