We still have a long way to go with wages and GDP growth. I love Trump but the job ain’t nearly done.

Every time I see Trump on one of these foreign visits it brings tears to my eyes because it’s the kind of reaction he should be getting from ALL of our country - instead of half of America acting like vindictive, spoiled children, stamping their collective feet because they lost an election.

I guess you and your whole department we never outsourced by Wipro.

Three years ago the large multi-national bank I work for outsourced to a combination of IBM, TCS and WiPro.

This past December, the bank announced we're re-insourcing everything because outsourcing to IBM, TCS and WiPro in particular (who got the bulk of it) was an unmitigated disaster and not only failed to achieve the "savings" our senior management fell for into believing, outsourcing actually made things MORE expensive and the service levels were horrible.

We're hiring about 1,000 people back into the bank as FTE's and none of them are coming from the outsourcing providers.

This is the first time in my more than 30 year career in IT that I've seen both ends of the spectrum at an employer: outsourcing and re-insourcing. Any other employer I've been at in 35 years that announced outsourcing, I left.

Try hiring almost 1,000 highly skilled I.T. professionals in this economy, LOL!! Love our President and love the raise and retention bonus I received last week to stay with the bank.

My dad and his wife went to Calcutta and Mumbai about 20 years ago. They came back horrified as well. I went with that in my mind, along with images of what floats down some of their rivers. They still face many of such challenges. Like I said, some lean towards the medieval in their ways of life. Still, I left very impressed with the good things I saw.

Well said.

I am so happy to know that Trump’s time in the huge stadium in India went well. Will watch the videos later.

Not yet. Believe me, I think the tech export crushing our STEM students is unsustainable. It has to be shut down in its current form. I’ve voiced that on many occasions.

Nasty comment.

India is a great country that has pulled itself beyond the challenges of its climate through its ingenuity and smarts.

It soars in art, culture, cuisine and philosophy.

When Trump refers to Modi bringing improved sanitation to roughly half his country, that is through private and public indoor toilets across the land.

Thanks man, they were really wonderful to me. I’ve had the opportunity to show them the same. We have our differences on certain issues but I see them as a natural ally as we move into the future together.

Mid-80s when I was there and I’ll admit that had I not been able to retreat into 5-star hotels at night, I would have been overwhelmed as well. Certainly an eye opener.

We put on a great “Howdy, Modi” event for Modi as well.

All celebrating with, for and of our people.

Yep.

Indian talent here is not just writing code either. Lots and lots and lots and smart folks as well now in tech marketing and running our biggest tech companies.

Of course lots of Indian doctors here as well.

Last I saw they were the ethnic group in the US with the highest average incomes and educational attainment. Very, very low crime.

Agreed. We don’t need more especially low-skill legal or illegal immigrants here for a good generation, if ever.

We need instead a couple of decades of a tight labor market there to bring up wages. We keep being warned how tech will displace so much of our low-skill workforce, and yet Trump, like almost all pols in DC is bringing in more, such as the just-announced bump of 45,000 more “seasonal” workers.

Better still would be US-India-Russia collaboration against the China coalition.

India is going a fantastic job returning the favor! It's a shame that TDS rules the cable news airwaves because this visit is awesome TV, and great exposure for India, the country, its people, cultures, customs. BTW, did folks hear what was playing in the stadium right before the First Couple and PM were introduced: The Village People's Macho Man. Fascinating choice. Also noticed that not one Indian knelt for their national anthem. And all were respectful of ours as well.

I caught a couple of the early morning national news shows which is a rarity for me. One reporter (last name Jiang?) on CBS said “I have never seen anything like this” with a huge smile. To see that and then switch to the doom-and-bloom of the moldie oldies like Sanders, Warren and Biden was phenomenal.

Interesting. From the little I know (based entirely on Indians I have met in the US) it seems that you’re right in this. I’d love to visit it someday.

And I agree - the Indians could be valuable allies and a good counterweight against the Chinese.

Quite incredible is correct. Gives me goosebumps and a warm heart to see how the people of India are showing respect for our American president. They have rolled out the red carpet, literally and figuratively speaking.

I’m thinking they did.

Interesting things to note: “macho” is not a dirty word in India, and the Village People are still cool.

Neat!
