Around 1965 Popular Science had an article about the building of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, then the world's longest suspension bridge. It stated that because of the distance the suspension towers are 6" out of parallel to COMPENSATE FOR THE CURVATURE OF THE EARTH .

OK, Ill bite. Suppose he is correct and the world is flat. Then what is underneath it?
To: Impala64ssa
It’d be funny if he noticed the curvature this time.

Just buying an airline ticket would have gotten him to 30,000 feet or more.

Well, I guess his little experiment proved one thing: At least SOME of these “Flat-Earthers” are serious about it.
Prior to this, I could never tell for certain if any of them actually believed that nonsense, or if they were just part of a giant joke; another 4Chan meme gone viral.

Too bad his belief in the flat earth led to his death

The Earth may be round, but Kansas is FLAT!
I’ve flown at 49,000 feet, in a B-52, and not seen the curvature of the earth. Might be in the 80,000 to 100,000 foot altitude.
Couldn’t go above 50,000 without pressure suits.
Decompression above 63,000 feet and not wearing a pressure suit, the blood will boil.
Mad Mike should have had somebody talk him out of the 5,000 foot climb. Mike Hughes had a death wish, for sure.
