Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a blustering dissent in an ideologically split 5-4 Supreme Court ruling released Friday night in which she accused the five conservative justices who voted in the majority of repeatedly favoring the Trump administration.
The case involved an appeal by the Department of Homeland Security for an injunction in a ruling against the imposition by the administration of a public charge rule regarding immigrants in an Illinois case that the Court has already allowed for the other 49 states. (DHS fact sheet on public charge rule.)
Sotomayors dissent is in the context of the growing pushback in recent years by President Trump and his administration that has found support from the Courts conservative majority against the imposition of nationwide injunctions by individual District Court judges against Trump administration actions. The increased imposition of nationwide injunctions has fueled a belief the lower courts are acting politically as part of the anti-Trump resistance.

“RBGs health”
It is my understanding that the tumor on her pancreas was operable and operated on.
FU midget.
The courts are clearly political. Cant escape that. The real question is which is worse: political courts or no courts?
Nah! Want her to live a long life in retirement so she can watch as the conservatives eventually claim two more socialist seats... A 7-to-2 ratio of American Constitutionalists to Amerca-hating leftists would be almost ideal...
Trump has to stay on track...
The wall...
Mass deportations
Abort Roe vs Wade
I agree about the 17th Amendment, and some could have been more explicit. Which Amendments do you see having created problems?
My biggest problem is with the "general welfare" clause in the preamble that the dim/socs have distorted for decades in favor of their pet projects. They also abuse the "commerce clause" (Art. 1, Section 8).
And her health too.
I meant Roberts rebuking Sotomayer for getting political.
Ah yes ... the wide latino
Wow, can't believe I misunderstood. It was pretty clear.
Top. Kek.
+1
The unwise latina should just resign then.
Haven’t heard much on RGB did she die and they dug a hole in her backyard and got rid of her body? Or is she like Carter in induced coma?
Who do you favor?
>>Im going to predict that RBG retires approximately one month before the election. If Trump wins and she is still on the court, it guarantees that he gets to pick another conservative replacement. But if she retires prior to the election but not enough time to replace her
If she retires before the election, it STILL gives Trump and McConnell until noon on Jan 21st, 2022 to replace her even in the unlikely event Trump loses. Dispense with the judiciary hearings and go straight to a vote in the senate, and RBG could be replaced within an hour.
Amy Coney Barrett, for starters.
That kid is now 25 and runs a ham and egg diner in Sheboygan...
So big deal, you are a left wing clown, jerk!!
It’s not a case of favoring the Trump administration, but favoring the rule of law.
So when will we read about the Chief Justice scolding the Wise Latina? Or are his rants about politicizing SCOTUS decisions limited only to the president?
