The Constitution gives rules to confine government to reasonable acts against citizens, without which government will run amok.
Agreed...except our government has ALREADY run amok. We can find ways to arrest illegals without violating the 4th Amendment.
I doubt many are. Too many hoops you have to pass through to be an interstate bus driver.
That being said...with this announcement, at least in my mind, Greyhound is no longer a safe way of transport for any Normal, Deplorable, or conservative. They are now destined for bankruptcy unless they change their mind, and swiftly.
DOT/ICC. Could be someones license for conveyance needs to be investigated again. Sanctuary buses. Who knew?
Is it a one year lease? How about a security deposit? Are pets allowed?
I agree they should tell the authorities to get a warrant. Otherwise the stop-and-friskery will spread to other establishments and to homes. 4A will be antiquated in no time.
Govt is already rolling over our civil liberties like tanks on a playground. Not long ago you needed a national emergency for the sort of thing that now happens routinely.
Warrantless raiding stinks of police state.
Furthermore, one day they’ll raid the wrong bus and confront the wrong illegal alien, and innocent passengers will be hit in the crossfire.
Warrants and some detective work at the desk are safer for all concerned. Your basic teenager can open a laptop and locate illegals in about five minutes. Deputize him and he can do it in half the time.
The hound should have been the first level of security, profiling and scrutinizing their own passengers.
I'm surprised we haven't had a "palestinian" blow up a bus.
[Back in 2013, I rode Greyhound for the first time in 30 years....for a simple two-hour trip.]
shrinkage
Nice term for shoplifting and theft
Pull their interstate license.
Once, the bus drives on a public road.
Revoke their license.
Ok then, open ended for a specific reason such as known avenues used by illegals.
Yep. The driver will be arrested for not following a law enforcement directive.
Exactly. Has it ever happened before...that a wetback has ridden on a bus?
(Another one rides the bus - Weird Al Yankovic)
“Stop the bus. Make everyone get off. Problem solved.”
Yup. Not only does that work, it becomes a step in the process which illegals will avoid at all costs.
The company said it would notify the Department of Homeland Security that it does not consent to unwarranted searches.
Greyhound thinks it’s above the law license get pulled until they understands who makes the rules.
So, stopped busses will not go forward while waiting for the warrant to be produced
That tells me that Greyhound is admitting there might be some folks on the bus that I as a passenger would not want to be associated with.
Greyhound makes it clear that a person with a ticket can go where a ticketless person can't.
Greyhound is going to have problems restricting ticket sales to our law enforcement.
Arrests without warrants but with probable cause are black letter law. Cell phones are wonderful tools to arrange pickups.
Having uniformed BP agents on board will discourage use of Greyhound by the undercover undocumented.
To reduce cost, the BP targets those routes known to be used frequently by underground undocumented.
Have friendly Sheriff a county or two ahead hold the bus with a warrant. Done.
