Greyhound says it will stop allowing Border Patrol agents without a warrant to board its buses to conduct routine immigration checks.
The nation's largest bus company made the announcement on Friday - a week after The Associated Press reported on a leaked Border Patrol memo confirming that agents can't board private buses without the consent of the bus company.
Greyhound had previously insisted that even though it didn't like the immigration checks, it had no choice under federal law but to allow them.
n an emailed statement, the company said it would notify the Department of Homeland Security that it does not consent to unwarranted searches on its buses or in areas of terminals that are not open to the public - such as company offices or any areas a person needs a ticket to access.

Not if they're illegal aliens.
Just ask them a question....if they can't respond in English...sounds like reasonable suspicion.
If the cops can stop me for one burned out license plate bulb...
Back in 2013, I rode Greyhound for the first time in 30 years....for a simple two-hour trip.
So there was the 2-hour wait at the bus terminal. Outside the door....mostly drunks and addicts. They had a security guy who was probably a failure at the mall operation. I don’t think the place had been painted since 1965. From the four ladies running the place....no one knew much of anything and I seriously doubt that any of them had finished high school.
The bus trip? I sat near the back and the five people around me....had all been released from prison that morning. The two ladies in front of me? They were desperately trying to reach Detroit, and seemed to be of the hooker-trade.
We were about 15 minutes down the interstate, with some idiot acting weird and making a run to the rear toilet. Ten minutes pass, and the driver pulls over, with cops behind us (lights flashing), and they make their way to rear toilet, to yank this guy off. He was all pumped up on some kind of drug and acting weird....talking about aliens and flying horses as they escort him off the bus.
It was the first time since 1979 that I’d rode a Greyhound, and the last time.
Bus drivers will now have to be bouncers? To throw the ICE Man off the bus? I don’t think so!
You [and I] do not pay near the bribes to the powers that be that Grayhound does.
Hmmm. I seem recall several times where the guy in the booth at least had eyeballs on everyone in the car.
That was a long time ago, though.
Constitutionally, you’ve got to have at least reasonable suspicion (specific reason and proof to believe that illegal aliens are on the bus) before you stop the bus.
Otherwise, you throw out the Constitution and we live in Nazi Germany.
Citizens! Citizens! Citizens!
“Rascals” should read “illegal alien invaders”.
That should make some great new commercials. Leave the smuggling to us. Sanctuary busses.
Well I do, and I guess so does ICE.
Using your position, how would you otherwise justify weigh and inspection stations for tractor-trailer rigs?
Flea Check ,LOL
Arrest them for interfering with Feral LEO.
Greyhound has faced pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union, immigrant rights activists and Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson to stop allowing sweeps on buses within 100 miles (160 kilometers) of an international border or coastline...
And while I'm at it...What about the TSA Nazis at the airports?
They should be looking for jihadis and "backs"....otherwise smiling and waving us through.
Obstruction of Justice.
Nobody without a warrant gets into my vehicle, either.
A border checkpoint is a whole different story. The whole PURPOSE of a border checkpoint is to check the vehicle and everyone on board.
Yep, just killed half +/- of their customers....
Yeah, that sounds about right. I had a couple Greyhound adventures six or seven years ago when I was buying cars on eBay. I’d buy the car then take a Greyhound to pick it up.
My first trip there was one open seat and I quickly came to understand why. The guy next to me was acting weird for a hundred miles or so — saying incoherent stuff out loud — and then fell asleep leaning against me. He didn’t smell like alcohol so it must have been painkillers. At one point the guy behind me tried to steal my sunglasses from the window ledge but I happened to notice and he slid them back. Just lots and lots of weird people and lots of overall weirdness. The food vendors in the terminals have a carnie vibe. The bus stations in the northern cities are especially haunting. You can tell they were once impressive buildings — with high domed ceilings and ornate tiled floors and art deco styling — but they’ve gone into disrepair and are now filthy and falling apart.
This may be as much about illegal drivers as passengers.
How many illegals are driving Greyhound buses?
