AOC endorses wave of liberal women in quest for 'progressive majority in Congress'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's "squad" could get a lot bigger with the wave of female congressional candidates she endorsed on Friday.

The socialist surprised many by defeating Rep. Joe Crowley, a high-ranking incumbent, in a primary race in New York in 2018. Now, she’s looking to find more women to follow in her footsteps to replace centrist incumbents with younger, more liberal candidates.

After teasing a "big announcement" late Thursday, the 30-year-old congresswoman revealed the slate of candidates she is supporting with her political action committee Courage to Change as they primary Democratic incumbents throughout the United States. Ocasio-Cortez also revealed she is backing a few liberal candidates who are facing off against establishment picks for races that do not have a Democratic incumbent, such as the Senate race in Texas.

"It’s time to elect a progressive majority in Congress accountable to strong, grassroots movements that push support for issues like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, racial justice, & more," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. "It’s time to elect public servants with the Courage to Change."

Seems to me, from today into the future, the overwhelming effort in this country ought to be centered on eliminating the "brainwashing" and the "brainwashers".

No possible way and stay functioning. The list you are talking about would have to include our entire public school system, well more than half of all the information filtering systems in the US to include most news, instruction, politicians, (both sides are guilty), and every citizen who wants to voice an opinion like on this board. And try to challenge the first amendment with that one.

The only way to do anything with it is on a case by case basis and bring down the hammer every time it surfaces. Unfortunately only the DNC is willing to do that as the GOP just seems to want to get along. The only one who will do it, and a large contingency of the GOP won’t support him because of it, is Trump. This is why they were scared he would win as they now have to run for the underside of the rock they need to hide from responsibility so they don’t lose their meal ticket job. Cowards! They don’t represent you or the truth. They represent themselves.

You do KNOW the circumstances under which she won the seat don't you?

an afterthought for most eligible voters, and in the Ocasio-Cortez win last June, only 13 percent of eligible voters in the 14th Congressional District bothered to vote. 

 

Out of about 215,000 active, registered Democrats in the district, a little fewer than 28,000 voted, with Ocasio-Cortez winning by about 4,000 votes.  Because New York is overwhelmingly Democrat, a Republican has little chance in the much bigger general election turnout, so Ocasio-Cortez became the Trojan horse subterfuge to be slipped through the primary and into Congress by virtue of eyeball appeal and her eagerness to express all manner of follies with the seriousness of a heart attack.
