Most of the Americans monitored at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for coronavirus after evacuating a cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the virus, the Omaha World-Herald reports.
UMNC said in a statement Thursday that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention verified the Nebraska Public Health Lab results showing that 11 of the 13 patients have the novel coronavirus. The other two evacuees who were taken to the Omaha hospital tested negative, the statement said.

Agreed, but I saw the same headline in a local online paper.
The “news” is that the AP sent out the non-news with an extremely misleading, and inflaming, headline that is now going across the country via local papers and maybe even radio stations. The headline implies that they were not previously-detected cases when they left quarantine which, as you said, is just not true.
This is just the cohort of already-infected Americans who were diagnosed by the Japanese earlier. Omaha is where we decided to hospitalize them once they were brought back here. That will almost double the U.S. cases, however, once they’re included in the count.
I actually want to know every detail of the lifestyles of the two who tested negative!
Floating Petri dish. They should have been quarantined at Adak. *sigh* Don't say we didn't warn you.Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
If just ONE person standing at the bow of the ship sneezes, then within a few days everyone is sharing the germs.
The same goes for airplanes but 100x worse as its a sealed enclosed vessel!
Why do you say that? My take on the data isn't the same as yours, not saying you're wrong, just want to understand your process for arriving at that conclusion.
Will it be my problem if it scares the crap out of everyone on the airplane?
“Most of the Americans monitored at the University of Nebraska Medical Center...”
Now they’ll all get sick.
“HOW CHEAP is Cruising going to get!?”
One of the major reasons I will never get on a cruise ship. Plus I do not like being captive and out to sea. nope...
If they were walking free each of them would on average infect another 7 people and the infection totals would double every 2 days
Exponential math is awesome
Well yes captain obvious but they didnt.

The speed of the ship would disperse those germs very quickly. Very unlikely that any would be ingested into the ship.

Cruises aren’t getting cheap. The two I’ve booked months a go are only increasing in price.
Two more of the uninfected tested positive today. So I guess that resets the quarantine clock for everyone they flew with on Monday
Way back in the day some people thought you would be able to take a riverboat up the Platte from Omaha to Denver. They figured out pretty quick that wasn’t gonna happen.
just a hunch
Look at this thing hiv core ; then debunked; biolab in same town studying sars
Tbis thing has sars like elements
The chinese where slurping bat wings for generations ; to have the year they loose trading benefits while bring pricks is a tad interesting
So now it is all over Camp Ashland.
Right were my friends and family are.
I tend to side with the CDC. They should have NEVER been allowed back in the mainland US till after quarantine. Let along dropped in an airplane and flown to the middle of the continent.
Going to be an interesting next few weeks.
Where did the rest of them go?
That might lead one to suspect it WAS a bioweapon, not that it wasn’t.
Sorry, no. This has been debunked by those knowledgeable on shipboard air circulation. Each cabin intakes and exhausts air separately (reason..fire spread prevention).
