Former Senate majority leader Harry M. Reid said Thursday that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) or any presidential candidate should not get the Democratic nomination if they end the primary process in first place but are shy of the requisite majority of delegates.
Reid (D-Nev.) dismissed suggestions from Sanders and his supporters that he should become the nominee if he finishes with a plurality lead ahead of the rest of the candidates but short of the 1,991 delegates needed to secure the nomination outright. Reid even suggested that a group of moderate candidates, trailing Sanders overall, could assemble a coalition ahead of the Democratic convention in July in Milwaukee to hand the nomination to someone else.

If I recall correctly, in 1976, Jimmy Carter had a plurality of delegates , but not a majority, after the end of the primary season in 1976. Between the end of the primaries and the convention, the bandwagon started up, and uncommitted delegates, and those pledged to minor candidates, committed to Carter so he had majority support on the 1st ballot.
Harry’s just happy that another democrat has now had his ass beaten worse than he did.
Also there was no guaranteed winner between Reagan and Ford heading into the 1976 GOP Convention.

The Dems are inadequate on so many levels. They can’t even run a primary season where one of their own tribe wins. Losers.
We need to mobilize and push Bernie over the top.
Everyone knows that if anyone but Bernie were to have a high plurality, the rules would be changed instantly.
We could be in for something not seen since 1968!
