CHARLOTTE, N.C. The largest super PAC that supports Republican Senate candidates will say in a filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) late Thursday it spent millions of dollars to boost a liberal Democratic candidate running for the right to face Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) in November.
The Senate Leadership Fund, the super PAC run by close allies of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), will reveal in the FEC filings that it was behind a secretive new group created earlier this month that has spent millions on television advertising ahead of the March 3 Democratic primary, The Hill has learned.
Those advertisements touted state Sen. Erica Smith (D), a candidate who has raised about $210,000 for her campaign. Smith is the more liberal candidate in the field, openly embracing "Medicare for All" and the Green New Deal.

Anyone wanting proof that we really do have a Uniparty or that the GOPe would rather elect Democrats than let actual conservatives in, here you go.
Rush started this many years ago. He called it Operation Chaos. Many years later the slow as molasses pubbies have finally caught on. Support, behind the scenes, an obviously weak Loser ideas dem candidate thus ensuring an easy win for the republican.
You could say it's dirty politics...but if it lets us hold on to a Senate seat, I'm all for it.
If its a well thought out strategy to drive a wedge and push the Dems into deeper chaos Im for it.
Possibly on the cusp of creating 2 separate parties out of the Dems ....
a little gas on the Fire, a little Jiffy POP
You misunderstand COMPLETELY.
We’re boosting a far-left psychotic who would lose the general election if she were nominated.
It’s called winning. We did it in 2000 against RINO party switcher Congressman Mike Forbes (switched to D), we helped some 80 year librarian win the rat primary and we promptly took the seat back in November.
AFAIK, Tillis is aligned with Lindsay Gramnesty in a new scheme to import and legalize more illegals.
I just got an email from Sarah Huckabee Sanders asking for money for Tillis’ campaign, saying he was in a tight race.
A recent article in The HIll or Politico said he was way ahead of other Rs in the primary and the Dems.
Here’s his challenger.

Garland Tucker dropped out. Tillis has a 100% of winning the primary against a collection of nobodies.
The strategy is to get the Democrats to nominate a weak candidate so a flawed GOP incumbent has a better chance of winning.
*IF* that’s what they’re doing, of which I have doubts, it often backfires high and wide. We got Obama because people thought it would be fun to derail Hillary with a weak candidate. How did that work out again?
I was part of several local and state campaigns in which we won unexpected victories in such a manner. Correctly assessing the opposing candidates is key.
It’s the GOPe. How often have they gotten that right? Look at what they did to Cuccinelli, too.
I don’t think so.
I think supporting someone who’s too far left to win in that part of the country makes sense.
Arguing against a political strategy because you do not like those using it is a diversion from the point you most want to make, the demerits of the GOP establishment.
CREEP is intrigued
ok Cocaine Mitch. What’s up with this?
hate all these people.....they do not represent me....
“But she is not the favorite of national Democrats, who back former state Sen. Cal Cunningham (D) as their strongest potential nominee against Tillis.
The FEC reports will show the Senate Leadership Fund spent about $3 million on television and radio spots boosting Smith, funneled through a group calling itself the Faith and Power PAC.”
We saw back-to-back commercials for Smith and then Cunningham last night. We were like...”WTH”?
Now I understand.
