In lashing out at the prosecution of Roger Stone and “dirty cops,” the president confronted the attorney general with a choice about how to respond.
President Trump once again berated the “dirty cops” of the law enforcement establishment on Thursday, accusing the Justice Department of going after his friends but not his enemies in an outburst that flouted Attorney General William P. Barr’s pleas to stop publicly intervening in prosecutions where he had a personal interest.
Speaking out hours after his friend Roger J. Stone Jr. was sentenced to more than three years in prison for lying to protect the president, Mr. Trump belittled the case and hinted broadly that he would use his clemency power to spare Mr. Stone if a judge did not agree to a retrial sought by defense lawyers.
In essentially dangling a pardon or a commutation for a friend, Mr. Trump confronted Mr. Barr with a choice about how to respond after he declared last week that the president’s attacks on the criminal justice system were making his job “impossible.”
“A lot of bad things are happening, and we’re cleaning it out,” Mr. Trump said of law enforcement at a Las Vegas event for former convicts re-entering society. “We’re cleaning the swamp. We’re draining the swamp. I just never knew how deep the swamp was.”
He added: “We had a lot of dirty cops. F.B.I. is phenomenal. I love the people in the F.B.I. But the people at the top were dirty cops.”
Mr. Barr last week reversed the Justice Department’s original request, in line with federal guidelines, for a term of seven to nine years for Mr. Stone, leading four career prosecutors to quit the case and one to resign from the department altogether.

They need to pounce on that judge that made that ruling today down by the border.
Get the SCOTUS to issue an injunction and then get his views tossed out on the ash heap of history.

Barr needs to quit whining and start doing his job. Otherwise President Trump wouldn’t be tweeting about the injustices that’s now in everybody’s face.
Seems to me that weeding out the bad cops is the exact opposite of an attack on the judicial system.
President Trump can rectify these wrongs by issuing pardons for all affected people tomorrow. He hasn’t done that, so I honestly have no clue whether he’s playing 4-D chess or “Go Fish.”

Still waiting for the investigation into the Kavanaugh ambush. Still waiting for the Durham report. How much more evidence do you need? It’s obvious there’s a lot of stonewalling going on and then total inaction. Yeah. I’m pissed too Mr.President.

Prosecutions and either convictions or rediculous jury nullifications would validate Trump’s rhetoric and that is the very last thing the swamp wants. They will always do the minimum required in support of POTUS and not an inch more.

Need to read Trump’s tweets more and accept this issue is real.
Trump did not complain about Barr, but about the dirty cops who used to be at the top of the FBI.
Barr is exercising the kind of proprietorial discretion that ethically should have been used by Mueller and his Democrat hacks when they decided to go after Stone and other Trump supporters.
So another day in which it is “impossible” for Barr to do his job. I wish tweeting existed during Ruby Ridge.
Also still waiting for a real investigation into the highly suspicious death of Mr. Epstein. Barr walked up to that podium and said in the strongest terms how “appalled” he was by the incredible circumstances and swore to get to the bottom of it. And...nothing. Absolutely nothing.
I wonder if any of these crooks will ever be held to account.

That where it falls back on Trump. He could have fired the lot of them, and its been 3 years. Yet he trust that Durham will actually produce a report that Barr said “should be out in March”.....only he didnt specify the year! Barr is involved inthe deep state coverup. They are all going to get away with it, and Trump has no one to blame for this but himself. You cant claim to drain the swamp and leave the rats behind!
The Bush League Republican swamp creatures in the Senate will only confirm swamp creatures.
We have to replace the Bush League Republican Senators, Trump can’t do that.

I'd tend to agree with that.
I don't really know what else he expected from Barr though. The guy thinks it's perfectly OK for an FBI sniper to shoot a woman in the head while she's holding her infant. Enough so that he gave pro-bono help to his defense.
